Job summary

Valkyrie Clinical Trials (VCT) at Flourish Research is actively hiring a Medical Assistant for our Los Angeles, CA site. Shift: Monday–Friday 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Location: Onsite.

Compensation: $22.00–$27.00 hourly; Non-Exempt. Responsibilities include coordinating patient flow, preparing examination areas, taking vitals, charting in EMR, assisting with exams and procedures, handling specimens, administering medications, and maintaining HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirements include a High School diploma or equivalent.
• Current Medical Assistant Certification is required.
• Current CPR certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating patient flow to minimize wait times.
• Rooms patients and prepares/maintains examination and treatment area.
• Obtains vital signs and inputs into EMR; recognize and respond to emergencies.
• Prepares the patient and provides information as needed.
• Performs or assists physicians to perform exams, tests and procedures (EKGs, phlebotomy, etc.).
• Collects and processes specimens.
• Prepares and administers medications and immunizations within scope.
• Documents patient communication and clinical treatments in the EMR.
• Performs routine maintenance of instruments and equipment.
• Stockrooms and supplies; organizes and stores supplies.
• Receives, organizes, scans, faxes and encounters documents in EMR.
• Evaluates quality of care and suggests improvements.
• Floats between departments as assigned.
• Provides support for front desk, back office, scheduling, and research staff.
• Assists with general clinic and reception duties.
• Assists with process improvements and initiatives.
• Completes other tasks as assigned by management.
• Maintains HIPAA compliance and confidentiality.

We are actively hiring a Medical Assistant at our Los Angeles, CA site.

Shift: Monday- Friday 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM

Compensation: $22.00-$27.00 hourly

• Coordinatingpatientflowtominimizewaittimes.
• Roomspatients,preparesandmaintainsexaminationandtreatmentareabefore,duringand after each patient activity.
• ObtainsvitalsignsandinputthemintoEMR.Mustbeabletorecognizeandrespondtoanyemergency situationappropriately. Reports abnormal vitals to providers.
• Preparesthepatientandprovidesinformationasneeded.
• Performs orassistphysicianto perform exams,testand procedures as ordered by the physiciansuchasEKG’sorotherprocedures,andphlebotomy,includingvenipunctures, finger sticks, and injections.
• Collectsandprocessspecimens.
• Preparesandadministersoralandparenteralmedicationsandimmunizations, if within scope of practiceasdirectedand supervised by the physician and/or RN.
• Documentspatientcommunicationandclinicaltreatmentsaccuratelyandappropriately within the EMR.
• Performsroutinemaintenanceofinstrumentandclinicalequipment.
• Stockroomsandsuppliesasneeded.Receives,unpacks,organizes,andputsawaymedicalsupplies.
• Receives,organizes,scans,faxesandencountersdocumentsintoEMRbyeitherfilingthose documents properly according to their respective section and/or takingappropriate actionrequired by the document.
• Evaluatesthequalityof careprovidedandrecommendschangesforimprovement.
• Asneeded,floatsbetweendepartmentsandprovidersasassignedbasedondailyclinicneeds.
• Providesupportand coverageoffrontdesk, back office,patient scheduling,and research staff when needed.
• Assistwithgeneralclinicand reception areaduties,includingworkflowsupport,administrativeduties,andprojects as needed.
• Assistswithkeyinitiatives/processimprovementsinthedepartment.
• Completeanyothertask assignedbymanagementtosupportclinicoperations.
• Maintaincompliancewithorganizationalpoliciesandproceduresandrelateddepartmentalprocedures.
• Maintainaclean,safe,andorganizedworkingenvironment.
• Followall HIPAAregulationsinaccordancewithpoliciesandtraining.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient and/or protocol issues asappropriateand as bound by Confidentiality Agreements including but not limited to those with Flourish Research, between Flourish Research and sponsors, and between Flourish Research and other entities.
• Performalldutiesinasafeand prudentmanner.
• Represent Flourish Research in a professional and courteous manner (verbal, written and in appearance) when interacting with Flourish staff, sponsors, IRBs, patients, nursing and medical staff members of various clinics, hospitals, andphysician’soffices.
• Additionaldutiesasassignedbysupervisorormanagement.

• Localtravelmayberequiredto other sites in the Denver area, as applicable.
• Exposure to human bodily fluids, blood borne pathogens, infectious diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other conditions that are common to the clinical environment.
• Exposuretolaboratoryprocessingprocedures.
• Frequentcontactwithpatients,physicians,andothercenterstaff.Moderatetoextensivecomputeruse.
• Abilitytoworkinanvironmentwhichattimesmaybestressful,includingfrequentinteractions with others, interruptions, multiple calls & inquiries, and potentially emotional situations involving accidents,injuriesand/or death.
• Abilitytoproperlyliftthirty-fivepoundsandoccasionallymorethanthirty-fivepounds.

Minimum Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent

Experience

• Minimumof1-2+years’relevantexperienceprovidingmedicalsupportinaclinical setting.
• Oncology experience is preferred.
