Job summary

Gastro Health is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to join our team in Lima, Ohio. You will greet and room patients, document medical charts, manage triage calls, and support providers with treatments and procedures.

The role includes patient education and coordinating refills as directed, with a focus on compassionate care. Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or GED and 2+ years of Medical Assistant experience; CMA certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of Medical Assistant experience preferred.
• Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA) preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Greet and room patients, ensuring appropriate patient flow.
• Update patient charts with accurate, timely documentation.
• Manage phone triage and take actions under provider direction.
• Assist with treatments and procedures per physician orders.
• Provide patient education and personal patient care for comfort and well‑being.
• Process prescription refills under clinic protocol as directed by providers.
• Demonstrate positive interpersonal relationships with coworkers and providers.
• Travel to satellite offices, including Celina area, as needed.

Duties you will be responsible for:

• Greet and room patients, ensuring appropriate patient flow
• Update patient's medical chart with accurate and timely documentation
• Manage phone triage and take appropriate action under the direction of the provider
• Demonstrate ability and appropriate technical skills when administering treatments and procedures in accordance with physician's orders
• Provide patient education as well as personal patient care to provide comfort and well-being to acknowledge physiological and psychological needs
• Under direction from providers, process refills for prescriptions following clinic protocol
• Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships in dealing with fellow clinic employees, managers and providers
• Take direction and initiate actions that will allow cross-functional duties to ensure seamless patient care
• Follow safety procedures in compliance with OSHA and state health department guidelines
• Position will require travel to satellite office, ability to travel to the Celina area frequently will be needed.

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• 2+ years' experience as Medical Assistant preferred
• Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA) preferred
• Medical Assistant Experience preferred
