Job summary

Family Medical Associates & Pediatrics in Lebanon, TN is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to support primary and urgent care responsibilities. Qualifications

  • Excellent attention to detail and transcription accuracy.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with taking medical histories and preparing patients for exams.
  • Document patient encounters accurately into EMRs.
  • Maintain confidentiality while handling patient information.
  • Organize and manage up-to-date medical records.

Job description

Clinical Duties

(may include, but are not limited to):

  • Taking medical histories
  • Explaining treatment procedures to patients
  • Preparing patients for examinations
  • Assisting the physician during examinations
  • Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
  • Performing basic laboratory tests (Strep/COVID/Flu)
  • Instructing patients about medication and special diets
  • Preparing and administering medications, including by intramuscular, intradermal, and subcutaneous injections—including vaccinations/immunizations, as directed by a physician or other licensed provider (e.g., a nurse practitioner or physician assistant)
  • Transmitting prescription refills as directed
  • Taking electrocardiograms
  • Wound care and changing dressings
  • Assist healthcare providers in documenting patient encounters by accurately and efficiently transcribing medical information into electronic medical records (EMRs)
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and complete documentation of patient visits
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines when handling sensitive patient information
  • Review and edit transcriptions for accuracy and completeness, making necessary corrections as needed
  • Organize and manage medical records, ensuring they are up-to-date and easily accessible for healthcare providers
Experience
  • Certification as a medical assistant (CCMA or CMA) is highly preferred
  • Familiarity with family practice, pediatrics, or medical fields is a plus
  • Proficient in typing and using computer systems, including EMR software
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to accurately transcribe medical information
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and prioritize tasks effectively
