Job summary

Vera Whole Health is seeking a Medical Assistant (Float) to support multiple care centers in the Columbus market. The role combines clinical and administrative duties, ensuring smooth patient flow as you travel between two locations as needed.

The position is full-time with a Monday–Friday schedule and a pay rate of $21 per hour. Experience with EMR systems (Athena preferred) and phlebotomy are valued though not required.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of Medical Assistant experience preferred.
• Phlebotomy skills required or willingness to perform phlebotomy.
• Experience with EMR systems (Athena a plus) is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Take manual vital signs and document in the EMR.
• Assist providers with exams, diagnostic tests, and point-of-care testing.
• Administer immunizations, injections, and medications as directed.
• Observe patient reactions and monitor safety during procedures.
• Perform phlebotomy and prepare lab specimens.
• Process labs, swabs, and other samples for testing.
• Provide routine patient education and self-management support.
• Manage patient flow and coordinate with front desk for appointments.

• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30am–4:30pm (1‑hour lunch break) Pay Rate: $21/hr

About the Role

We’re seeking a Medical Assistant (Float) to support multiple Vera Whole Health care centers across the Columbus market. This role provides both clinical and administrative support, ensuring smooth patient flow and high‑quality care. You’ll work closely with providers and clinic teams while traveling between 2 locations as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care

• Take manual vital signs and document in the EMR

• Assist providers with exams, diagnostic tests, and point‑of‑care testing

• Administer immunizations, injections, and oral medications

• Observe and record patient reactions

• Perform phlebotomy and prepare lab specimens

• Process labs, swabs, and other samples

• Provide routine patient education and self‑management support

• Track preventive care needs, referrals, and follow‑up items

• Conduct outreach to patients and specialists for referrals, care gaps, and records

Clinic Operations

• Manage patient flow throughout the care center

• Set up exam and procedure rooms based on visit needs

• Answer multi‑line phones and assist with front desk duties when needed

• Schedule appointments and support patient registration

• Maintain inventory and restock supplies

• Serve as an external‑facing representative for the clinic

• Travel to other sites for coverage or events as needed

Compliance

• Perform QA controls and complete required documentation

• Follow safety and infection‑control protocols

• Maintain HIPAA confidentiality

• Meet medical record documentation standards

• Participate in quality improvement and comply with OSHA/CLIA guidelines

Team Collaboration

• Participate in team meetings and huddles

• Support training, orientation, and ongoing competency assessments

• Work with clinic teams to meet performance targets

• Adapt to flexible hours or shifts as needed

• Perform other duties as assigned

Additional Qualifications

• Ability to set up exam/procedure rooms using sterile/aseptic technique

• Basic knowledge of cleaning, sterilization, and autoclaving

• Ability to support office‑based procedures

• Understanding of immunization administration for all age groups

• Experience documenting in an EMR

Compensation Range

$19.00 to $30.00

The anticipated base salary range represents the Company's good‑faith estimate of the compensation it reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, skills, qualifications, geographic location, internal equity, and business needs.
