Job summary

Forefront Dermatology is seeking a Medical Assistant to support our dermatologist in Kalamazoo, MI. The role focuses on rooming patients, documenting vitals, and assisting with procedures in a fast-paced dermatology practice.

Ideal candidates have 1+ year medical office experience, CMA/LPN/RN credentials, and comfort with EMR systems. Travel to other clinic locations may be required; strong organizational and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of recent experience in a medical office preferred.
• Must maintain current state certifications/licensure.
• Must be willing to travel to other clinic locations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Rooming patients and documenting vital information.
• Scribing for the dermatologist and assisting with post-op wound care.
• Drawing blood and suture removal.
• Cleaning and stocking exam rooms; scheduling patient appointments.
• Assisting with dermatology procedures: photography, biopsies, excisions, I&D, Mohs, phototherapy, injections, patch testing.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

• Rooming patients and documents all vital information
• Scribing information for the dermatologist
• Providing post op wound care to patients
• Drawing blood and suture removal
• Cleaning and stocking the exam rooms
• Scheduling patient appointments

Assisting the dermatologist with procedures such as:

• Surgical photographs
• Biopsies – punch, DIF and shave
• Excisions
• Electrodessication and curettage
• I&D
• Mohs micrographic skin cancer surgery
• Phototherapy
• Injections
• Koh preps
• Trichograms
• Tzank preps
• Dermabrasion
• Patch testing
• Blue light

Qualifications

Education:

Minimum post high-school education in a medical support field: Certified Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Registered Nurse (Non-Certified Medical Assistants will need to complete the Forefront Derm Tech certification program within the prescribed time period and maintain certification upon expiration).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• 1+ years of recent experience in a medical office in a similar capacity is preferred
• Certified Medical Assistant, DERM Tech a plus
• Must keep current on all state certifications, licenses and/or registrations to continue employment
• Must be willing to travel to other clinic locations as needed
• Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office and Electronic Medical Record systems
• Must possess organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff, clients, and visitors
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team
