Job summary

Kaiser Permanente is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant for an on-call role spanning Anaheim and Irvine campuses. The position includes routine patient care, clerical duties, medication preparation, and support for surgical service departments.

Basic Life Support is required, and preference is given to those with at least one year of medical assisting experience in the last five years.

Qualifications

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Basic Life Support certification is required.
• Minimum one year of medical assisting experience preferred.
• On-Call position; days and hours may vary.
• Work at Anaheim and Irvine campuses, with potential future locations.

Responsibilities

• Upholds Kaiser Permanente policies, procedures and applicable laws.
• Performs routine patient care functions and assists providers.
• Assists physicians and other health care professionals.
• Performs routine clerical tasks (appointments, chart management, calls).
• Prepares and administers medications as directed by orders.
• Assists with procedures and diagnostic exams.
• Maintains aseptic technique and infection control as directed.
• Manages patient test results and follow-up.
• Provides basic information and assistance to patients.
• Documents patient information and nursing procedures while ensuring confidentiality.
• Maintains courteous relations with patients, staff and coworkers.
• Performs other duties as directed.

Job Summary

Under direct supervision and within established scope of practice, assists in the provision of direct patient care by performing routine patient care procedures, technical, and supportive functions in a medical office or clinic setting.

Essential Responsibilities

• Upholds Kaiser Permanentes Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities and applicable state, federal and local laws.
• Performs routine patient care functions as prescribed by licensed health care providers following established clinical protocols, policies and procedures within defined scope of education, training and responsibilities.
• Assists assigned physician(s) and/or other health care professional(s).
• Performs routine clerical functions as assigned (i.e. making appointments, chart management, telephone calls etc.).
• Prepares and administers medications as directed by physician order and in accordance with Kaiser Permanente guidelines.
• Assists medical personnel with procedures and/or diagnostic exams.
• Applies principles of aseptic technique and infection control as directed by the Infection Control Manual.
• Establishes and maintains systems for patient test results and follow-up.
• Provides basic information and assistance to patients under the direction of licensed personnel.
• Documents pertinent patient information, nursing procedures and patient responses, following established guidelines and maintaining patient confidentiality.
• Establishes and maintains courteous and cooperative relations with members, staff and co-workers.
• Perform other duties as directed.

Notes

• This is an On-Call position, days and hours may vary.
• This position will be asked to work in all surgical services departments: General, Plastic, and Vascular Surgery.
• This position will be required to work at both the Anaheim and Irvine campus along with any future Surgical Service locations.
