Job summary

US Heart & Vascular in Houston, TX seeks a part-time Medical Assistant to support Willowbrook Cardiovascular Associates. You will take vital signs, verify and input medications into the EMR, perform EKGs, and assist physicians during exams.

Responsibilities include Holter monitor hookup/removal, event and loop recorders, and stress testing support. You will handle patient communications, manage refills, and coordinate scheduling and admissions when needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or Texas GED required.
• Current Medical Assistant certification required.
• One year MA experience preferred.
• Current BCLS certification required.
• Experience administering EKGs is required.

Responsibilities

• Take vital signs (BP, pulse, weight, etc.).
• Verify and input medications into EMR and update as needed.
• Perform EKGs, rhythm strips and printouts.
• Assist physicians with patient exams as needed.
• Hook up Holter monitors, event/loop recorders; monitor data.
• Assist with stress tests and interpret when applicable.
• Handle pharmacy calls, review charts, and call in refills.
• Move between locations as required; maintain CPR/MA certifications.

US Heart and Vascular needs a Part-time Medical Assistant to join our Willowbrook Cardiovascular Associates in Houston, TX.Responsibilities:Takes vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, weight, etc.)Verifies and inputs patient medications into EMR. Making changes and additions as needed to the medication list.Responsible for EKG, rhythm strip, and signal average EKG hook-ups and printouts. (Proficiency Required)Assist physicians with patient exams as needed.Responsible for Holter monitor hook-ups and removals, event recorders and Loop recorders. (Proficiency Required)Ability to perform stress tests as needed and to assist in test interpretation.Takes pharmacy phone calls, reviews charts, and calls in prescription refills.Monitors pharmacy samples, removing from stock as expired.Receives and returns phone calls from patients and other external sources. Receives and returns portal messages in the EMR.Maintains current CPR and Medical Assistant certification.May also be responsible for insurance precertification, prior authorization, procedure/surgery scheduling and coordinating transfers and admissions.Performs other duties as required.May be required to move between locations as needed.
