Job summary

SIMEDHealth in Highland Springs, VA is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to support our Primary Care clinic with compassionate, patient-focused care. You will ensure accurate patient data in the EMR, greet patients, and help with vitals and daily clinical tasks.

Responsibilities include coordinating medication refills, assisting with procedures (EKG, phlebotomy, wound care), triaging calls, and facilitating referrals and authorizations. On-site work is required; remote work is not available.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program or National Certification preferred.
• Current BLS/CPR certification required.
• 1–2 years of experience using electronic health records (EHR).
• At least 1 year as a Medical Assistant in a private medical office or hospital setting (Primary Care or similar) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate patient information is readily available in the EMR.
• Welcome patients to the exam room and document vital signs in the EMR.
• Coordinate medication refill requests between patients and providers.
• Administer prescribed medications (injections, oral, topical) as trained.
• Assist with patient procedures (EKGs, spirometry, dressings, wound care) as needed.
• Triager patient calls and respond to medical inquiries with care.
• Help referrals and authorizations for procedures and surgeries.
• Perform phlebotomy as needed for patient care.
• Assist physicians and advanced practice providers with patient care as needed.

As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and ensuring the efficient flow of our clinical operations. What You’ll Need:

• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program or National Certification (preferred)
• Current BLS/CPR certification (required)
• Previous experience (1-2 years) using electronic health records
• At least one year of experience as a Medical Assistant in a private medical office or hospital setting (Primary Care or similar preferred).
  Your Role Will Involve:
• Ensuring accurate and complete patient information is readily available in their electronic medical records.
• Welcoming patients to the exam room and efficiently documenting their vital signs in the EHR.
• Serving as a key point of contact for medication refill requests, coordinating between patients and providers.
• Administering prescribed medications (injections, oral, topical) according to your training and qualifications.
• Skillfully assisting with and performing various patient procedures (EKGs, spirometry, dressings, wound care, etc.) based on your expertise and clinic needs.
• Triaging patient phone calls with care and providing helpful responses to their medical inquiries.
• Proactively assisting patients with the often-complex process of referrals and authorizations for procedures and surgeries.
• Performing phlebotomy as needed for patient care.
• Assisting Physician and Advanced Care Providers with patient care and procedures as needed.
