Job summary

American Family Care (AFC) provides general medical care in outpatient clinic settings, with franchised locations. This role works under the direction of a licensed provider and adapts duties by location.

Responsibilities include patient intake, vitals, history, exams, procedures, labs, immunizations, referrals, and documentation. AFC focuses on episodic care and operates centers seven days a week with walk-in access.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent; six months to one year experience or training; or equivalent combination.
• AMT registration is preferred.
• AAMA certification preferred for medical assistants.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam.
• Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients.
• Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments per approved procedures.
• Draw blood and prepare labs for reference lab processing or in-house processing.
• Perform laboratory tests, quality controls, and equipment maintenance per instructions.
• Respond to lab messages and callback requests.
• Conduct drug screening procedures per rules and regulations.
• Document immunizations accurately and administer per procedures.
• Facilitate physician referrals and pre-certifications as needed.
• Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies.
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.
