Job summary

Community-GoHealth Urgent Care is hiring a Medical Assistant to support providers, radiologic technologists, and patients in a fast-paced setting. You will handle check-in, rooming, vitals, and point-of-care tests while delivering compassionate care.

Ideal candidates are organized, service-oriented, and thrive in a collaborative team. Certification as a Medical Assistant and BLS are required at hire, with opportunities for growth within a supportive culture.

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant certification required at time of hire.
• Accepted certifications include: CCMA, CMA, RMA, NCMA, NRCMA.
• BLS required at hire.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and verify insurance and eligibility.
• Room patients and prepare for examination.
• Record medical history and vital signs.
• Perform point-of-care testing (e.g., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG).
• Assist providers during patient visits and communicate patient needs.
• Process co-pays and schedule follow-up appointments.
• Maintain clean, stocked, and organized exam rooms and front desk areas.
• Manage medical records, documentation, and patient communications.
• Answer phones and respond to patient inquiries.
• Support daily clinic operations including opening/closing duties.

Position Summary

As a Medical Assistant , you’ll play a key role in supporting our providers, radiologic technologists, and patients. This is a fast-paced, patient-facing position where you’ll help ensure an efficient and positive care experience-from check-in through discharge.

What You’ll Do

• Register patients and verify insurance and eligibility
• Room patients and prepare them for examination
• Record medical history and vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, etc.)
• Perform point-of-care testing (e.g., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG)
• Assist providers during patient visits and communicate patient needs
• Process co-pays and schedule follow-up appointments
• Maintain clean, stocked, and organized exam rooms and front desk areas
• Manage medical records, documentation, and patient communications
• Answer phones and respond to patient inquiries
• Support daily clinic operations including opening/closing duties

Required Qualifications

• Medical Assistant certification is REQUIRED at time of hire
• Accepted certifications include: CCMA - Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (NHA)
• CMA - Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA or CHP)
• RMA - Registered Medical Assistant (AMT, AAH, or ARMA)
• NCMA - National Certified Medical Assistant (NCCT)
• NRCMA - Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NAHP)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) (American Red Cross or American Heart Association) - required at hire
• High school diploma or equivalent required

Preferred Qualifications

• Graduate of a Medical Assistant program
• 1+ year of Medical Assistant experience within the last 3 years
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology
