Job summary

Canyonlands Healthcare is seeking a Medical Assistant to support primary care teams, improve patient flow, and contribute to a compassionate, patient-centered clinic. Under supervision, you will assist providers, manage room preparation, and help with documentation and care coordination.

This position requires CMA/RMA certification or equivalent, experience in a clinical setting, and proficiency with EHR systems.

Qualifications

  • Certification or registration as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or equivalent).
  • Clinical experience in a primary care or outpatient clinic.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and infection control standards.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare examination rooms and stock supplies for patient visits.
  • Assist providers during examinations and procedures; take vitals and histories.
  • Coordinate care by facilitating communication among the team.
  • Provide basic nursing care per protocols.
  • Document patient interactions accurately and timely.
  • Maintain infection control and safety within the clinic.
  • Manage appointment scheduling and patient check-in/out.
  • Handle clerical tasks like updating records and follow-ups.

Medical Assistant

Join our dedicated healthcare team as a Medical Assistant, where you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality primary care to our patients. Under the supervision of the Practice Manager, you will support medical providers, care managers, and other staff to ensure efficient patient flow and a positive clinical experience. This position offers an opportunity to work within a collaborative, patient-centered environment committed to improving community health.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare examination rooms for patient visits by turning on instruments, computer systems, lights, and ensuring cleanliness and proper stock of supplies.
  • Assist medical providers during patient examinations and procedures, including taking vital signs, recording patient histories, and preparing necessary documentation.
  • Support care coordination efforts by facilitating communication between patients and healthcare team members.
  • Administer basic nursing care within the scope of certification and agency protocols.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient interactions and clinical activities.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control and safety protocols within the clinic environment.
  • Facilitate patient flow by managing appointment schedules and assisting with patient check-in and check-out processes.
  • Perform clerical duties such as updating patient records, scheduling follow-up appointments, and managing correspondence as needed.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Certification or registration as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in a clinical setting, preferably in primary care or outpatient clinics.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, clinical procedures, and infection control standards.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and team members.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a compassionate and professional demeanor.
