Job summary

Forefront Dermatology is hiring a Medical Assistant to support dermatology patients in a fast-paced clinical environment in Virginia. You will accompany the dermatologist, room patients, scrub, and assist with a wide range of procedures.

The role requires CMA/LPN/RN credentials or enrollment in the Forefront Derm Tech program within the designated period. Must be able to travel to other clinic locations as needed, perform injections, blood draws, and wound care, and work well with staff and

• Minimum post high-school education in a medical support field: Certified Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Registered Nurse (Non-Certified Medical Assistants will need to complete the Forefront Derm Tech certification program within the prescribed time period and maintain certification upon expiration).

Responsibilities

• Rooming patients and documents all vital information
• Scribing information for the dermatologist
• Providing post op wound care to patients
• Drawing blood and suture removal
• Cleaning and stocking the exam rooms
• Scheduling patient appointments
• Assisting the dermatologist with procedures such as surgical photographs, biopsies, excisions, electrodessication & curettage, I&D, Mohs surgery, phototherapy, injections, Koh preps, trichograms, tzank preps, dermabrasion, patch testing, and blue light

Qualifications

Education

Minimum post high-school education in a medical support field: Certified Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Registered Nurse (Non-Certified Medical Assistants will need to complete the Forefront Derm Tech certification program within the prescribed time period and maintain certification upon expiration).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• 1+ years of recent experience in a medical office in a similar capacity is preferred
• Certified Medical Assistant, DERM Tech a plus
• Must keep current on all state certifications, licenses and/or registrations to continue employment
• Must be willing to travel to other clinic locations as needed
• Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office and Electronic Medical Record systems
• Must possess organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff, clients, and visitors
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team
