Job summary

American Family Care (AFC) is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider in an outpatient clinic setting. This position works directly with a franchised AFC location, with duties and benefits that can vary between franchises.

Responsibilities include collecting vitals, medical history, explaining procedures, performing tests, administering medications, drawing blood, maintaining documentation, and supporting pre-certifications and

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent, or 6 months to 1 year related experience.
• AMT registered preferred.
• AAMA Certified Medical Assistants preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit; prepare the patient for a physical exam.
• Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients.
• Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments per approved procedures.
• Draw blood and prepare labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing.
• Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance per instructions.
• Respond to lab messages and call back requests.
• Perform drug screening procedures per rules and regulations.
• Ensure patient immunizations are documented and administered as required.
• Conduct physician referrals and service pre-certifications as needed.
• Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments and supplies.
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education

Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent

AMT registered

Qualifications

Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.
