Job summary

Forefront Dermatology in North Carolina is seeking a Medical Assistant to support dermatology visits, rooming patients, and assist with procedures. The MA will scribe for the dermatologist, deliver post-operative wound care, draw blood, and help with room cleanliness and supply stocking.

Applicants should have CMA/LPN/RN certification, 1+ year medical office experience, and be willing to travel to other clinic locations. Proficiency in EMR and Microsoft Office is expected.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of recent experience in a medical office
• Certified Medical Assistant, DERM Tech a plus
• State certifications, licenses and/or registrations up-to-date
• Willing to travel to other clinic locations
• Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office and EMR
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to multi-task and work well in a team

Responsibilities

• Rooming patients and documenting all vital information
• Scribing information for the dermatologist
• Providing post op wound care to patients
• Drawing blood and suture removal
• Cleaning and stocking the exam rooms
• Scheduling patient appointments
• Assisting procedures: surgical photographs, biopsies, excisions, electrodessication & curettage, I&D, Mohs surgery, phototherapy, injections, Koh preps, Trichograms, Tzank preps, dermabrasion, patch testing, blue light

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

• Rooming patients and documents all vital information
• Scribing information for the dermatologist
• Providing post op wound care to patients
• Drawing blood and suture removal
• Cleaning and stocking the exam rooms

Assisting the dermatologist with procedures such as:

• Surgical photographs
• Biopsies – punch, DIF and shave
• Excisions
• Electrodessication and curettage
• I&D
• Mohs micrographic skin cancer surgery
• Phototherapy
• Injections
• Koh preps
• Trichograms
• Tzank preps
• Dermabrasion
• Patch testing
• Blue light

Qualifications

Education:

Minimum post high-school education in a medical support field: Certified Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Registered Nurse (Non-Certified Medical Assistants will need to complete the Forefront Derm Tech certification program within the prescribed time period and maintain certification upon expiration).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• 1+ years of recent experience in a medical office in a similar capacity is preferred
• Certified Medical Assistant, DERM Tech a plus
• Must keep current on all state certifications, licenses and/or registrations to continue employment
• Must be willing to travel to other clinic locations as needed
• Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office and Electronic Medical Record systems
• Must possess organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff, clients, and visitors
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team
