Job summary

BrightView is seeking a Medical Assistant to deliver high-quality patient care within a multidisciplinary setting. You will perform vital signs, TB testing, blood draws, and assist with lab procedures under supervision, while maintaining EMR documentation and smooth patient flow.

The role requires excellent communication, empathy, and the ability to collaborate with diverse teams. Proficiency in MS Office and HIPAA compliance is essential, with prior MA experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Follow policies to provide high-quality patient care.

Job description

  • Follow established treatment program policies and procedures to provide high-quality patient care
  • Adhere to current medical standards and practices
  • Plan, assess, intervene, and evaluate patient needs using medical skills
  • Perform laboratory procedures in accordance with best practices under appropriate supervision
  • Complete patient vital signs, TB testing, and blood draws
  • Facilitate timely and efficient patient flow throughout visits
  • Perform assigned administrative duties supporting patient flow
  • Prepare specimens for shipping
  • Maintain laboratory supply inventory and a sanitary, organized work environment
  • Provide input on treatment philosophy, treatment services, and patient care
  • Communicate with teams regarding patient appointments
  • Attend required meetings, huddles, and center-team collaborations
  • Consult team members on lab testing, results, and patient issues
  • Collect laboratory specimens accurately and in compliance with federal and state regulations
  • Review, post, and disseminate laboratory results
  • Complete timely and comprehensive documentation in Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
  • Maintain new and existing patient accounts, including insurance and billing information

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of prior medical assistant experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly empathetic and compassionate to effectively support the recovery journey of BrightView’s patients
  • Competent at working with a diverse population of colleagues and patients
  • Natural problem solver, looks for solutions to best meet patient needs with a sense of urgency
  • Team-player, able to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment
  • Adaptable and agile within a dynamic work environment
  • Technologically capable, comfortable operating in multiple systems for communication and documentation purposes
  • Familiarity with MS Office software (Outlook, Teams, Word, etc.) preferred
  • BrightView’s culture of compliance - operates with a high degree of integrity and compliance to work standards and regulatory requirements
  • Familiarity with HIPAA and 42-CFR Part 2 desired
  • Prior experience with harm reduction a plus
