Job summary

River Valley Family Health Centers in Montrose/Delta Counties seeks an experienced Medical Assistant to join our clinics. The MA will support providers with clinical and administrative tasks, room patients, document vitals, and assist during procedures.

The ideal candidate has a MA education program or apprenticeship with NHA exam, or at least 1 year MA clinic experience, plus active BLS. Travel between clinics may be required, and bilingual candidates are preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an approved Medical Assistant education program, MA Apprenticeship with NHA exam, or minimum 1 year MA clinic experience.
  • Active BLS Certification.
  • Drivers License Required.
  • Knowledge of safety and clinical standards.
  • Willingness to travel between clinics as needed.
  • Ability to work well with diverse groups and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to use a computer for timekeeping, EMR documentation, and follow-up tasks.
  • Bilingual candidates are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Rooming each patient and documenting vital signs, history, and reason for visit.
  • Assisting providers with procedures including minor surgeries.
  • Performing injections, phlebotomy, and CLIA-waived tests.
  • Responding to patient inquiries and triaging requests for their provider.
  • Providing health-related education and compassionate support to patients and families.

About this position

River Valley Family Health Centers is looking for an experienced Medical Assistant to join our clinics in Montrose or Delta Counties. The Medical Assistant (MA) plays a vital role in delivering compassionate, patient-centered care in a community clinic environment. This position supports healthcare providers by performing both clinical and administrative duties, to ensure efficient and effective patient care. The MA serves as a liaison between patients and providers, helping to foster a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for individuals and families from diverse backgrounds.

A day in the life of a Medical Assistant includes:

  • Rooming each patient, taking and documenting vital signs, patient history, and reason for the visit.
  • Assisting the provider with procedures including minor surgical procedures.
  • Performing injections, phlebotomy services, and CLIA waived laboratory tests.
  • Responding to patient inquiries and triaging requests for their assigned medical provider, following up on assigned tasks, and communicating with patients as needed; and
  • Providing health related education and delivery of compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and their families.

  • $20.43 - $22.97/hour, depending on experience and certifications

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an approved education program for Medical Assistant; completion of the Medical Assistant Apprenticeship and passing the NHA exam; or minimum of 1 year experience working as a Medical Assistant in a clinic setting.
  • Active BLS Certification.
  • Drivers License Required.
  • Knowledge of safety and clinical standards.
  • Ability to travel between clinics as needed.
  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships with team members, patients, families, and others.
  • Must demonstrate cultural sensitivity when working with individuals and groups of diverse racial, ethnic, economic, and social backgrounds.
  • Ability to utilize a computer for time keeping, documenting electronic medical records, and to complete follow-up tasks.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Bilingual candidates are preferred.

This position requires long periods of standing and walking, sitting at a computer, the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 pounds, etc. Employees are exposed to blood, body fluids, and other occupational hazards, and are required to complete mandatory vaccines, such as Tdap, Hep A, Hep B, MMR, Varicella, and the yearly flu vaccine.

Salary Information
