Job summary

Sound Physicians seeks a Medical Assistant to support the Pulmonary and Critical Care programs in a fast-paced clinic. The role offers a Monday–Friday schedule 7:30 AM–4:30 PM, remote-first culture, and opportunities to grow within the organization.

You will perform clinical and administrative duties, maintain patient records, schedule tests, and assist physicians, contributing to efficient patient care across Sound's nationwide network.

Qualifications

  • MA certification and basic clinical knowledge.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • 1-2 years in healthcare industry.
  • Electronic Medical Records experience.

Responsibilities

  • Vital signs, injections, phlebotomy, spirometry as needed.
  • Greet patients and update medical records.
  • Schedule appointments and coordinate with physicians.
  • Assist in examinations and patient preparation.

About the Team

We are looking for an enthusiastic Medical Assistant to help us reach our Sound Critical Care goals. In 2020, Sound’s critical care team cared for over 115,000 ICU patients across the nation, a number that continues to grow year after year. This Medical Assistant will work on a team supporting 6 Providers, along with 3 other Medical Assistants, in a fast-paced Pulmonary Clinic. They will report up to a Program Manager.

About the Role

The Medical Assistant, Critical Care provides local support to improve the efficiency of operations for the Pulmonary and Critical Care programs, by providing administrative and clinical services by perfecting processes. This position will work Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM-4:30 PM.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Patient care: including vital signs, medication updates, spirometry, phlebotomy, injections, O2 recertifications, and other testing as necessary
  • Greeting patients and updating patient medical records
  • Scheduling appointments
  • Assisting in facilitating positive relationships among physicians, office staff and patients
  • Completing insurance forms and other correspondence
  • Arranging for hospital admissions and laboratory services
  • Completing patient medical histories
  • Assisting with scheduling tests and treatment
  • Preparing, cleaning and maintaining exam and treatment rooms
  • Preparing patients for examination, and assisting the physician during exams
  • Instructing patients on medications and special dietary instructions
  • Providing verbal or faxed prescriptions
  • Administering medications as directed by physician
  • Managing prescription and pharmacy calls
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • MA certification

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma
  • 1-2 years in healthcare industry (hospital, physician practice or insurance)

Pay Range

  • $20-$22 per hour. Exact pay will be determined based on candidate experience and geographical location.
