Job summary

HCA Florida Miami-Dade Surgical Specialists is hiring a Medical Assistant to prepare patients for exams, take histories and vital signs, and maintain treatment rooms with proper sterilization. The role includes giving injections, assisting with lab work, and supporting physicians during minor surgeries and physicals.

The position is full-time, day shift, with no nights, weekends, or holidays. Bilingual English/Spanish skills are highly valued, and MA certification or equivalent experience is

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program or 12 months of direct clinical patient care experience.
  • Certification required within 1 year if not holding MA certification at hire.
  • Active certifications such as CMA/CCMA/NHA preferred.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish skills highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examination by taking histories and vital signs.
  • Set up exam and treatment rooms with instruments and maintain supplies and equipment including sterilization.
  • Administer injections and assist with lab testing and phlebotomy.
  • Assist physicians in minor surgeries and physicals preparation.
  • Answer phone calls and screen for referrals.

Job Summary And Qualifications

Full time (Monday - Friday, days), no nights, no on call, no weekends, no holidays

What will do in this role:
  • You will prepare patients for examination and treatment by taking patient histories and vital signs
  • You will prepare exam and treatment rooms with the necessary instruments for your patients including preparation and maintenance of supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization
  • You will give injections and assist with lab testing and phlebotomy
  • You will assist physicians in preparing for minor surgeries and physicals
  • You will answer telephone calls to the practice and screen for referral
What Qualifications you will need:
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program OR twelve months of direct clinical patient care experience in a healthcare setting OR current Medical Assistant certification
  • Candidates with one year of Medical work experience who do not possess Medical Assistant Certification must obtain Certification within one year of hire date
  • Medical Assistants who recently graduated from a Medical Assisting training program will obtain a clinical MA certification within 60 days of employment
  • Active and unrevoked RMA, CCMA, CMA, NCMA, or NCRMA certification/ABR-OE credentials is highly preferred
  • Certified Medical Assistant, or NHA Cert Clinical Medical Assistant, or NAHP Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant, or AMT Registered Medical Assistant, or ABR-OE Assess Based Rec in Order Entry must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
  • Bilingual English and Spanish highly preferred
