Aunt Martha’s Health and Wellness in Chicago Heights seeks a Medical Assistant to provide clinical and administrative support in an ambulatory setting. You will ensure smooth patient flow, accurate vitals, rooming, and essential documentation to support high-quality care.

The role requires MA program completion, AMT certification, and flexibility for evenings, weekends and travel to multiple clinic locations. This position offers comprehensive benefits and a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Medical Assistant program (diploma or certificate).
• Completion of MA program and AMT Certification exam.
• Able to work late evenings, weekends and some holidays.
• Flexibility to travel to/different clinic locations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications, venipuncture and immunizations for adults and children.
• Provide basic patient care and room patients, taking vital signs and patient history.
• Prepare patients for visits and conduct waived testing and specimen collection.
• Maintain clean exam rooms, restock supplies and ensure Joint Commission compliance.
• Screen walk-in patients and relay information to RN/Provider.
• Handle scheduling, communications via phone/fax/email, and EHR tasks by day end.

Compensation: $18 - $22 per hour + $750 Sign-On Bonus

Position Overview

The Medical Assistant provides both clinical and administrative support within an ambulatory care setting. This role ensures efficient patient flow, high-quality care, and outstanding customer service to support the well‑being of patients of all ages.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

• Administer medications, apply up-to-date pharmacological principles, and perform venipuncture and immunizations for both adult and pediatric patients.


• Provide basic patient care, considering age and developmental stage needs.


• Prepare patients for visits by rooming them, taking vital signs (including height, weight, blood pressure, temperature, and respirations), and completing a patient history.


• Conduct waived testing and specimen collections as required.


• Practice standard universal precautions, including proper hand hygiene, medication administration, and assistance with procedures.

Administrative Duties

• Review and prep medical charts, ensuring quality measure requirements are met before patient visits.


• Maintain daily examination room setup, ensuring cleanliness, supply stocking, and Joint Commission compliance.


• Screen walk-in patients and communicate relevant medical information to the RN Health Administrator and/or Provider.


• Respond to patient, pharmacy, hospital, and physician inquiries via telephone, fax, and email.


• Assist with scheduling patient appointments as needed.


• Complete assigned administrative tasks, phone messages, and patient case tasks within the electronic health record (EHR) system by the end of the business day.


• Attend all required training, including Core Curriculum training and additional sessions identified by program management.

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant: Completion of a Medical Assistant program (diploma or certificate).


• Certified Medical Assistant: Completion of a Medical Assistant program (diploma or certificate) and successful completion of the AMT Certification exam.


• Ability to work late evenings, weekends, and some holidays.


• Flexibility to travel to and work at different clinic locations as needed.
