Job summary

American Family Care is seeking a nursing/medical support role to provide general medical care under a licensed provider in an outpatient clinic setting. This position works directly with a franchised business location, and duties/benefits may vary between franchises.

The role involves obtaining patient vitals and medical history, explaining procedures, performing tests, drawing blood, administering medications, and maintaining documentation in a fast-paced clinic environment.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
  • Six months to one year of related experience and/or training.
  • AMT registration and AAMA CMA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam
  • Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients
  • Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure
  • Draw blood and preparation labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing
  • Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions
  • Respond to all lab messages and call back requests
  • Perform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations
  • Ensure patient immunizations are well documented and administered in accordance with the approved procedure
  • Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basis
  • Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Education

Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school
Six months to one-year related experience and/or training
AMT registered
AAMA Certified Medical Assistants preferred

Qualifications

Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.

Compensation

$16.00 - $20.00 per hour
