Job summary

CenterWell Senior Primary Care is seeking a qualified Medical Assistant to support clinicians in a fast-paced, patient-facing environment in Charlotte, NC. You will perform clinical duties, gather data, take vital signs, and assist with injections and specimen collection while upholding patient comfort and safety.

Required certifications include an Active Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma and CPR, with preferred phlebotomy experience and bilingual English/Spanish skills.

Qualifications

  • Active Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma required.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Experience with MS Outlook and basic computer skills.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Willingness to cross-train in other roles as needed.
  • TB screening may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Discuss symptoms with patients and collect information.
  • Input data into the electronic medical records system.
  • Take vital signs and assist with injections.
  • Perform diagnostic tests and collect specimens.
  • Draw blood and maintain exam rooms.
  • Collaborate with physicians and nurses.

The Medical Assistant Performs Clinical Duties Including
  • Discussing symptoms with patients
  • Gathering and inputting information into the electronic medical records system
  • Taking vital signs
  • Giving injections
  • Performing diagnostic tests
  • Collecting specimens
  • Drawing blood
  • Sterilizing and cleaning equipment
  • Maintaining examination rooms
  • Collaborates closely with physicians and nurses
  • Delivers direct patient care dependent on what active certification allows
  • Responsible for decisions focusing on interpretation of area/department policy and methods for completing assignments
  • Works within defined parameters to identify work expectations and quality standards, but has some latitude over prioritization/timing, while working under minimal direction
  • Follows standard policies/practices that allow for some opportunity for interpretation/deviation and/or independent discretion
Required
  • Active Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma
  • Experience in a fast pace/high volume environment
  • Experience with MS Outlook
  • Basic Computer knowledge
  • CPR certification
  • Previous Phlebotomy Experience
  • Willingness to learn and be cross trained in other roles based on business need
  • This role is patient facing and is part of Humana's Tuberculosis (TB) screening program. If selected for this role, you will be required to be screened for TB
Preferred
  • Phlebotomy experience
  • Medication/vaccine administration experience
  • 1+ years MA experience
  • Value Based Care experience including knowledge of HEDIS, CPT/ICD coding, and CAHPS/HOS Patient Experience.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish - must pass proficiency exam prior to foreign language communication

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

$43,000 - $56,200 per year

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
