Baptist Health is hiring a Medical Assistant in Charlestown, IN to provide direct patient care and clinical support in an outpatient clinic. You will take vitals, collect histories, reconcile medications, and help coordinate tests and appointments within the EPIC system.

The role may include EKGs, phlebotomy, injections, and labs after competency. Strong communication and organization are essential to support providers and patients effectively.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or MA training program graduate.
• 1+ year of Medical Assistant experience in clinic/medical office.
• Experience with direct patient care and clinical procedures (EKGs, phlebotomy, injections).
• EMR experience (EPIC) is a plus; basic computer skills needed.

Responsibilities

• Check in patients, obtain vital signs and reconcile medications.
• Collect patient history information.
• Navigate EPIC EMR and coordinate scheduling and tests.
• Communicate with pharmacies, insurers, patients and physicians.
• Support providers and maintain patient flow; may perform EKGs, labs, injections or phlebotomy.

Experience must include direct, hands-on patient care in a clinical setting, such as obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing clinical procedures (e.g. EKG's, phlebotomy, administering injections or vaccines).* **Or** Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program, that includes hands on patient experience as part of the curriculum, required.* Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation. Those who do not meet the required standards will be enrolled in the Medical Assistant Trainee Program for further development and evaluation.* Basic computer skills, experience with EMR System a plus.* Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.* BAT and DOT certifications required for Medical Assistants in Occupational Medicine within 90 days of hire.**Preferred Qualifications for a Certified Medical Assistant:*** Current Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, or AAMP.* **Or** graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program with current unrestricted licensure.* Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation.
