Job summary

Universal Health Services, Inc. is seeking a Medical Assistant-PRN Weekends to support Wyoming Behavioral Institute. You will assist physicians and improve patient flow, prepare charts, and record patient information during admissions and assessments.

You'll work under supervision, perform basic MA tasks including vital signs, blood draws, and EKGs, and help maintain a safe, confidential environment for patients with behavioral health diagnoses on weekend shifts.

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years old.
  • Prefer certified medical assistant and 2 years of experience in a hospital, clinic or outpatient setting.

Responsibilities

  • Assist physician, physician assistant and NP with records and patient care during admissions.
  • Prepare charts, register data, and room patients for History & Physical assessments.
  • Perform vital signs, routine blood draws, phlebotomy duties and EKGs under supervision.
  • Enter data into electronic systems and integrate results into patient charts.
  • Maintain patient flow and ensure a clean, safe environment per policies.

Responsibilities

JOB TITLE: Medical Assistant-PRN Weekends

REPORTS TO: Chief Operations Officer

SUPERVISES: N/A

EXEMPTION STATUS: Non-exempt

POSITION SUMMARY: Assist physician, physician assistant, and Nurse Practitioner with record keeping and patient care activities in support of the patient admissions process at Wyoming Behavioral Institute. Prepare charts, records and room patients in support of History & Physical assessments. Stock supplies in advance of patient care visits. Support patient charting activities on various IT platforms and electronic/hard copy charts. Perform procedures under supervision of physician or physician assistant, including blood draws or EKGs as needed. Constant interaction with patients, must be comfortable supporting patients with Behavioral Health diagnoses.

  • Perform basic Medical Assistant tasks, including but not limited to, vital signs, routine blood draws/Phlebotomy duties, and EKGs
  • Pull & print information from computer systems and laboratory results to ensure chart & information is complete in preparation for Physician or Physician Assistant to conduct examinations. Enters data following exams into electronic systems, and integrates exam results into patient charts (filing data in patient charts).
  • Prepare patients for practitioner exams
  • Assist physicians/practitioners as requested for basic and emergency procedures
  • Maintain smooth patient flow by monitoring physician/practitioner work and anticipating their needs
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment in all patient areas, incorporating principles of safety and infection control into daily duties
  • Participate in any and all in-service training as scheduled by supervisor
  • Perform procedures under supervision of physician or physician assistant
  • Assist physician and physician assistant in exam rooms
  • Escort patients to exam rooms, interviews patients, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in patient’s chart
  • Give instructions to patients as instructed by physician or physician assistant
  • Ensure all related reports, labs and information is filed is available in patients’ medical records
  • Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, check medical supplies expiration dates and dispose of expired supplies.
  • Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls
  • Triage and process messages physicians and physician assistants
  • All other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Clinical Medicine or as delegated by Physician or Physician Assistant
