Job summary

Dignity Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patients and our care team, streamline clinic operations, and ensure high-quality medical services.

This role requires strong organizational skills, empathy, and a commitment to clinical efficiency in a fast-paced outpatient setting.

You will prepare patient charts, assist with examinations, measure vital signs, manage EMR documentation, and coordinate with doctors, pharmacies, and insurers to facilitate care.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Formal Medical Assistant program completion required per CA guidelines.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Medical terminology, CPT/ICD-10 familiarity, and pharmacology for MA scope.
  • Current BLS certification through American Heart Association required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing patients for examinations or procedures.
  • Administer prescribed medications and measure vital signs.
  • Maintain sterile, organized clinical environment.
  • Manage EMR input and chart documentation.
  • Communicate patient concerns to physicians and providers.

Job Summary And Responsibilities

As our Medical Assistant (MA), you will help patients and our healthcare team streamline clinic operations and patient care so they can access efficient and top-quality medical services.

Every day you will prepare comprehensive patient charts, ensuring all medical records are accurate and current. You will be expected to support multiple patients daily, facilitating doctor visits and clinic flow in a fast-paced medical environment. To be successful in this role, you will possess strong organizational skills, patient empathy, and a commitment to clinical efficiency. As a key member of our healthcare support team, your enthusiasm to help others and work efficiently will drive patient satisfaction and operational success.

Some Of Your Daily Activities Will Include
  • Assisting in preparing patients for examinations or medical procedures.
  • Administering prescribed medications and performing precise vital sign measurements.
  • Maintaining a sterile, organized, and safe clinical environment.
  • Managing medical records, including EMR input and chart documentation.
  • Communicating patient concerns effectively to physicians and advanced practice providers.
  • Coordinating with pharmacies and insurance for patient medication authorizations.
Job Requirements
  • High school diploma (or equivalent) required
  • Satisfactory completion of a formal Medical Assistant program pursuant to the Division of Allied Health Professions or military training that is equivalent to an accredited Medical Assistant program (determination by Dignity Health Medical Foundation H.R. department in conjunction with the State Division of Allied Health Professions) required
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills required
  • Medical terminology, familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 coding procedures and reference tools, and pharmacology appropriate to the Medical Assistant scope of practice required
  • Current BLS certification required (must be certified through the American Heart Association)
Preferred
  • Six (6) months of experience in an outpatient setting as a Medical Assistant preferred
  • Certification must be obtained through one of the private agencies approved by the Medical Board of California:
    • American Association of Medical Assistants (preferred)
    • American Medical Technologists
    • American Medical Certification Association
    • California Certifying Board of Medical Assistants
    • Multi-skilled Medical Certification Institute, Inc. (NCCT)
  • Familiarity with an electronic practice management system preferred
