Job summary

Providence is seeking a Medical Assistant II to support licensed practitioners and assist in patient care. This role builds on MA I duties and requires adherence to policies and procedures.

The MA II should demonstrate clinical competency for the assigned clinic and location. The candidate should have training through an accredited program or MA apprenticeship, plus relevant hands-on experience such as vital signs, injections, and medication administration.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school that includes hands on training in a clinical setting for medical assistants, or
• Graduate of a registered medical assistant apprenticeship program, or
• Has completed two years of medical training in the United States Armed Forces, or
• Minimum one year of work experience as a medical assistant that includes vital signs, injections, and medication administration

Job description

The Medical Assistant (MA) II works under the delegation of a licensed practitioner to perform duties as directed to assist in providing patient care to assigned patients. A MA II performs all aspects of the MA I role and is fully competent in the clinical needs/functions for assigned clinic/location of work. An MA II is expected to perform in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations.

Required Qualifications

• Coursework/Training: Graduate of an accredited school that includes hands on training in a clinical setting for medical assistants, or
• Coursework/Training: Graduate of a registered medical assistant apprenticeship program, or
• Coursework/Training: Has completed two years of medical training in the United States Armed Forces, or
• Coursework/Training: Minimum one year of work experience as a medical assistant that includes the following clinical skills: obtaining vital signs, administering injections, and medication administration
• Within 30 days of hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association
• 6 months healthcare experience
• 6 months Medical Assistant experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Upon hire: National Medical Assistant Certification
