Job summary

Forefront Dermatology in Bethesda seeks a Medical Assistant to support dermatology visits, room patients, and assist the dermatologist with documentation and wound care. You will draw blood, remove sutures, and help manage post-procedure care while maintaining a clean, organized exam environment.

The role requires prior medical office experience, CMA certification or enrollment in the Forefront Derm Tech program, and the ability to travel between clinic locations as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in a medical office preferred.
• Must be Certified Medical Assistant or complete Forefront Derm Tech certification within prescribed time.
• Keep current state certifications, licenses, and registrations.
• Willing to travel to other clinic locations as needed.
• Proficiency with computers including MS Office and EMR systems.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

• Rooming patients and documents all vital information
• Scribing information for the dermatologist
• Providing post op wound care to patients
• Drawing blood and suture removal

• Electrodessication and curettage
• I&D
• Mohs micrographic skin cancer surgery
• Phototherapy
• Injections
• Koh preps
• Trichograms
• Tzank preps
• Dermabrasion
• Patch testing
• Blue light

Qualifications

Education

Minimum post high-school education in a medical support field: Certified Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Registered Nurse (Non-Certified Medical Assistants will need to complete the Forefront Derm Tech certification program within the prescribed time period and maintain certification upon expiration).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• 1+ years of recent experience in a medical office in a similar capacity is preferred
• Certified Medical Assistant, DERM Tech a plus
• Must keep current on all state certifications, licenses and/or registrations to continue employment
• Must be willing to travel to other clinic locations as needed
• Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office and Electronic Medical Record systems
• Must possess organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff, clients, and visitors
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team
