Job summary

Urgent Team in Knoxville, TN is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to join our urgent care team. The MA provides clinical care in urgent care, occupational health, and workers’ compensation settings, including patient histories, vital signs, and documentation while recognizing acuity levels for timely intervention.

The role involves taking X-rays, preparing patients for evaluations, and supporting front desk functions. Full-time with rotating 36-40 hour weeks; PRN as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS Certification required.
• Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
• Experience performing X-Rays desirable.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients promptly and provide clear communication about next steps and wait times.
• Offer solutions to patient concerns and seek help in emergent or hazardous situations.
• Ensure timely follow-up for lab and x-ray results; execute follow-up calls with urgency.
• Support front desk staff with check-in and check-out procedures when needed.
• Accurately document vital signs, histories, medications, allergies, and other pertinent details.
• Assist with patient transfers, procedures, and lab work under provider supervision.
• Prepare and shoot X-Rays, ensuring proper positioning, safety, radiation protection, and shielding.
• Complete all required visit documentation and maintain stocked, clean exam rooms.
• Adhere to infection control, safety, and patient confidentiality standards.
• Perform phlebotomy, injections, and other clinical procedures as trained and directed.

Responsibilities include initial evaluations, x-ray testing, and preparing patients for provider evaluation by recording histories, vital signs, and documentation while recognizing acuity levels for appropriate intervention.

WHAT'S THE SCHEDULE?

Full-time team members work a rotating 36-40 hour/week schedule, consisting of 12-hour weekday shifts and every-other weekend. Our PRN (per diem) team members are scheduled on an as-needed basis.

WHAT'S REQUIRED?

• High school diploma or equivalent
• BLS Certification
• Certified Medical Assistant is preferred
• Experience performing X-Rays is desirable
