Overview

Position Title: Medical Assistant

Department: Nursing

Nature of Position: The Medical Assistant is a member of the interdisciplinary medical team of Central Oklahoma Family Medical Center. The position assists medical providers in the examination and treatment of patients and functions as a liaison between the medical staff, health information, lab, and administrative departments.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous clinical experience preferred
  • Strong written and communication skills
  • Strong working knowledge in computer systems; such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, and/or lift for extended periods of time
Responsibilities
  • Performs routine intake procedures including, but not limited to, temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, and blood pressure readings
  • Assists medical providers with examination and treatment of patients
  • Provides assistance with administrative procedures required, including patient referral, charting and documentation of activities and phone calls
  • Demonstrates teamwork and commitment to quality patient care
  • Attends clinic mandated and departmental inservices and trainings
  • Performs other duties as assigned within the guidelines set forth by the organization
