Job summary

The MetroHealth System's Harold H. Brittingham Memorial Library is seeking an Archives Intern to assist with archival processing and library tasks during a biweekly, 56-hour schedule.

Under the Archivist, you will inventory, rehouse, accession, arrange, and describe items in the collection and participate in digitization projects. Ideal candidates are enrolled in or recent graduates of library science, museum studies, or related programs and possess strong attention to detail and a collaborative

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing or graduate of an undergraduate or graduate degree in library science, museum studies, information science, public history, or a related degree program at an accredited institution or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Ability to work independently and adhere to stated procedures.
• Knowledge and experience with word processing and spreadsheet software.
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Enthusiasm for working with unprocessed collections in a healthcare setting.
• Ability to comply with System policies related to patient privacy.
• Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Inventory, rehouse, accession, arrange, and describe items in the archival collection.
• Learn best practices for digitizing collection materials and writing descriptions.
• Organize physical collections and participate in projects related to hospital history.
• Collaborate with the Harold H. Brittingham Memorial Library staff in all areas of archival collection management.
• Uphold the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.
