Job Summary

The Instructional Faculty (job code 2322) member (Medical Anatomy) is responsible for teaching, course development, and student mentorship for the MSPA program. The successful candidate must be knowledgeable in course content, committed to active learning approaches, and share in the mission of CSUSB and the MSPA program.

Typical Activities
  • Provide teaching and high-quality instruction in the MSPA program’s Medical Anatomy course using active learning methods.
  • Coordinate curriculum (i.e., Course Director) within the Medical Anatomy course.
  • Evaluate student performance and provide remedial instruction/reassessment as needed.
  • Utilize 3-D virtual anatomy platforms proficiently for laboratory instruction.
  • Counsel and mentor students related to academic and professional development.
  • Support the Director of Didactic Education with curriculum design, development, implementation, and evaluation, ensuring compliance with ARC-PA Standards.
  • Contribute to accreditation activities by serving as a content expert.
  • Support comprehensive assessment of the didactic phase, including data collection.
  • Collaborate with faculty for programmatic evaluation.
  • Engage in faculty development to stay current with clinical medicine and course content issues.
  • Work collaboratively with academic programs and serve on committees as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Didactic Education and Program Director.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited program (for PA candidates) or
  • Medical degree from an LCME- or AOA-accredited institution (for MD/DO candidates) or
  • Doctoral or terminal degree in a related field (e.g., PhD, EdD) from an accredited institution.
Additional Requirements
  • For PA candidates: minimum three years of clinical practice or full-time teaching experience as a Physician Assistant.
  • For MD/DO candidates: current California licensure, minimum three years clinical experience, and current knowledge of clinical standards.
  • For non-PA/non-physician candidates: current certification and licensure (if applicable), and at least three years of relevant experience.
Required Qualifications
  • Excellent teaching, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and demonstrate commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Proficiency with technology and software (Microsoft Office, Zoom, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior teaching experience in a PA or medical program.
  • Experience with virtual anatomy platforms and active learning methods.
  • Experience with accreditation processes and curriculum development.
  • Experience with Canvas LMS and working within diverse communities.
Additional Information

This position is full-time, mid-senior level, and involves responsibilities in higher education healthcare.
