What you will do

Accountabilities

The Medical Advisor serves as a medical contact for Amgen’s CDx strategy and Oncology & Hematology portfolio. They lead the adaptation of global and regional strategies to local priorities and support implementation to enhance Amgen's value proposition aligned with product strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of patient-focused medical strategies to improve the value of Amgen's therapies, including strategic planning, launch support, and lifecycle management, in collaboration with relevant teams.
  • Contribute to shaping the healthcare ecosystem by enabling access to medicines through evidence generation, communication, and education of medical and economic value.
  • Integrate insights to inform cross-regional and cross-functional strategies, including brand strategy.
  • Enhance collaboration across Medical teams.
  • Develop strategies for scientific engagement with external stakeholders to communicate the unmet needs and product value.
  • Manage relationships with external healthcare professionals, opinion leaders, payers, and societies for scientific exchange.
  • Lead or support medical evidence generation strategies to inform product development and medical practice.
  • Promote Amgen’s reputation as a science-based, innovative, and patient-focused organization.
  • Develop and support advocacy plans and strategies in collaboration with internal teams.
  • Partner with Global Regulatory Affairs and Safety (GRAAS) on risk management activities.
  • Participate in leadership, governance, and cross-functional teams as a medical representative.
  • Manage medical product budgets if applicable.
  • Coach and develop talent within the team.
  • Ensure compliance with all laws, regulations, and SOPs in medical activities.
  • Provide medical training related to products or disease states as needed.
  • Oversee clinical trial conduct in partnership with Global Development Operations.
  • Contribute to labels, regulatory, reimbursement, and policy strategies.
  • Review and approve medical communications and activities, ensuring scientific accuracy.
  • Support advisory boards, investigator meetings, and expert panels.
  • Lead data interpretation and communication for medical studies.
  • Decide on IME, donations, grants, and sponsorships as appropriate.
  • Use global infrastructure to track and evaluate performance for continuous improvement.
  • Support external access to Amgen therapies through understanding external expectations.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams on resource allocation.
  • Manage Investigator Sponsored Studies, including communication and reporting.
  • Contribute to lifecycle management plans.

What we expect of you

Minimum Requirements

  • Doctorate degree with 3+ years of relevant experience, or
  • Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of relevant experience.

  • Expertise in a complex matrix environment.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical development, lifecycle, and commercialization.
  • Product/therapeutic area expertise.
  • Experience within regional/local healthcare ecosystems.
  • Engagement and scientific exchange skills with external medical communities.
  • Clinical research experience.
  • Understanding of scientific methods and clinical applications.
  • Knowledge of clinical research, trial design, and biostatistics.
  • Sound scientific and clinical judgment.
  • Knowledge of GCP, regional regulations, and international standards.
  • Familiarity with local pharmaceutical industry and legal/health systems.
  • Effective presentation and documentation skills.
  • Problem-solving ability with good judgment.
  • Strong network of medical contacts in the relevant area.
