Job Title: Medical Abstractionist

Employer: ADVATIX - Advanced Supply Chain and Logistics

Location: Philadelphia, PA

Pay Rate: $30-$32 Per Hour

Schedule: Temp to Perm

Shift Details: 8:30am-5pm (Potentially Hybrid)

Note: This role involves reviewing medical record documentation, assigning CPT and ICD-10 codes, and supporting physician billing processes.

Responsibilities
  • Review medical record documentation, including procedure reports, and assign appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes
  • Submit coded services for billing and/or data entry of coded services for claim submission according to departmental productivity and accuracy standards
  • Systematically review and analyze patient medical records to determine diagnoses and procedures performed, and produce coded abstracts for physician billing
  • Review inpatient data and reconcile billable services, escalate errors and omissions, and communicate clinical documentation insufficiencies in a timely manner
  • Review and resolve coding-related edits and errors that impact claim submission
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of coding and documentation requirements outlined by CPT, ICD-10 CMS, and hospital compliance for all physician services performed
  • Follow hospital policies, procedures, and cost-control standards and department-specific guidelines
  • May be asked to travel to other locations
Qualifications
  • At least three years of coding experience
  • One or more of the following certifications: CPC, CPC-A, CCS, CCS-P, CPC-H
