Job summary

The State of South Carolina's Department of Health and Human Services seeks an Eligibility Specialist II (MAGI) in Lexington County. This in-office role evaluates applicant information and documents to determine Medicaid eligibility, performing determinations, reviews, and necessary changes in a timely, accurate manner.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and relevant experience in customer services, social services, human services, and/or Medicaid processing.
• A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required program experience.
• Overtime and/or weekend work with Deputy approval.

Responsibilities

• Determines/re-determines Medicaid eligibility according to policies and procedures.
• Collects and evaluates documentation from applicants to determine eligibility.
• Completes all assigned eligibility determinations, reviews, and changes in an accurate and timely manner.
• Uses information sources, electronic tools, and systems to collect, assemble, evaluate, and act upon information for timely determinations.
• Documents all notes and steps clearly for review and hand-off to other specialists.
