Job summary

Monroe Community Mental Health Authority is seeking a Network Benefits Specialist to manage the initial consumer registration, determine how services are reimbursed, and ensure enrollment and Medicaid eligibility are accurate in the EHR. The role requires coordinating with program staff to review applications and maintain benefits, with occasional home or on-site visits.

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of eligibility experience, SOAR/ MHFA training, and strong insurance portal

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in accounting, business management or health IT.
• Two-year degree with accounting courses plus two years of experience.
• Three+ years’ experience in benefit enrollment/eligibility assistance.
• SOAR Certification training, upon hire.
• Mental Health First Aid Training, upon hire.
• Experience with Medicaid or other state-aid eligibility processes.
• Proficiency with MS Office, EHR, and insurance portals.

Responsibilities

• Interview new consumers to complete admission and registration.
• Collect income/assets and determine ability to pay for services.
• Complete fee/benefit forms and open consumer accounts.
• Schedule appointments and assess financial information annually.
• Process payments and verify insurance information in the EHR.
• Complete Medicaid applications and related reviews as needed.
• Maintain consumer files and ensure confidentiality.
