Job summary

Eurofins USA Food Testing in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Media Technician to support the media department and ensure quality testing processes. You will perform media preparation, set up quality controls, operate instrumentation, manage media inventory, and help maintain a clean, safe lab environment while adhering to ISO/IEC 17025 and company guidelines.

Candidates with HS Diploma and AS/BS in Microbiology or related fields are encouraged to apply; commuting distance to Des Moines is preferred.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma required.
• AS or BS in Microbiology, Food Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry or related field.
• Experience in plating, plate reading, and sample preparation.

Responsibilities

• Reads, understands, and follows management system requirements to ensure ISO/IEC 17025/AOAC ALACC and government regulations.
• Adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
• Media preparation and inventory management.
• Set up quality controls and operate instrumentation (Autoclave, Masterclave, etc.).
• Identify process difficulties and report with proposed solutions to supervisor.
• Respond to client and staff inquiries and maintain cooperative relationships.
• Promote ethical business practices and continually improve service quality.

The Media Technician receives sufficient authority from, and is accountable to the Laboratory Supervisor or appointed designate for the successful completion of assigned duties and responsibilities and has the authority to take action necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities of this position and to identify the occurrence of departures from the quality system or from the procedures for performing tests and/or calibrations, so long as such action does not deviate from established company guidelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates and promotes thecompanyvision.

• Reads,understands,and followsmanagement systemrequirements asrelevant to responsibilities,including but not limited to requirements found in theQuality Manual, SOPs,Local Work Instructionsand Methodswhich in turn ensures compliance with ISO/IEC 17025/AOAC ALACC requirements and relevantgovernment regulatoryrequirements.

• Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulationsrelativeto assigned analytical work;maintainandassistothers inmaintaininga clean, safe workenvironment.

• Full knowledge of media department including, but not limited to:

• Media preparation

• Setting up quality controls

• Instrumentation use (Autoclave,Masterclave, etc.)

• Sanitation/dishes

• Media inventory management

• Identifyprocess difficulties and report these together with proposed solutions tosupervisor.

• Maintain a perpetual state of readiness and willingness to respond to the queries and needs ofclients, staff, andco-workers.

• Maintain cooperative working relationships with all company employees.Communicate orally and in writing to co-workers.This includes "intra" and "inter" departmentalemployees.

• Promote the company image through the exercising of sound and ethical businesspractices asrelated to the public and ourcustomers.
