Liberty University, Inc. is seeking a hands-on technician for pre-event setup, live event support, and post-event breakdown. The role includes installing data cabling (copper and fiber) and A/V cabling, with responsibilities spanning grounding and bonding of electrical equipment.

Team collaboration is essential for successful events. The position requires use of hand and power tools, some experience in Datacom/AV, and strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Must have experience with hand and power tools.
• Some experience in Datacom Cabling, AV integration or live production preferred.
• Effective communication both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to intuitively reason, analyze information and apply judgment to solve routine and complex problems.
• Excellent computer and organizational skills.
• Regularly required to lift 50 pounds or less.
• To obtain LU-approved driver certification, individuals must be 21+ years old, possess a valid driver’s license with 5+ years of driving history, and maintain a clean record.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• 40% Infrastructure installation
• 40% Infrastructure support
• 20% Event support (nights and heavy weekend hours possible)

Qualifications, Credentials, and Competencies

• Must have experience with hand and power tools and be able to work from ladders and lifts.
• Some experience in Datacom Cabling, AV integration or live production preferred.
• Effective communication both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to intuitively reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.
• Excellent computer and organizational skills.
• Regularly required to lift 50 or fewer pounds.
• To obtain LU-approved driver certification, individuals must be 21 years of age or older, possess a valid driver’s license with a minimum of five (5) years of documented driving history, and maintain a clean driving record.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Driving Requirements: Use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) is required for travel in the performance of the essential functions of this position.
• Proof of a valid Virginia driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.
