Responsibilities

  • Assist with day-to-day media relations and communications for assigned sports by coordinating interview requests, distributing press materials, and helping prepare coaches and student-athletes for media availability.
  • Support digital and social media strategies by scheduling content and gathering assets across platforms.
  • Draft and update game notes, press releases, and web content under supervision.
  • Organize media operations for home events including credentialing and postgame interviews.
  • Maintain accurate game statistics and historical data with official scorers.
  • Upload and organize multimedia content across internal and external platforms.
  • Respond to information requests with clear, accurate answers or routing as needed.
  • Participate in communications planning meetings and contribute ideas for coverage and campaigns.
  • Collaborate with student interns/volunteers on day-to-day tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with department policies, university standards, and NCAA regulations; seek direction as needed.
  • Budget accountability.

The media relations professional supports the day-to-day strategic communications efforts for Arizona Athletics. This position assists with content creation, media operations, and storytelling initiatives to promote student-athletes, coaches, and the program across traditional and digital platforms.

This position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and travel as needed. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist with day-to-day media relations and communications for assigned sports by coordinating interview requests, distributing press materials, and helping prepare coaches and student-athlete for media availability.
  • Support the implementation of digital and social media strategies by scheduling content, gathering assets, and helping to maintain consistency across platforms.
  • Draft and update basic written materials such as game notes, press releases, and web content under the guidance of senior staff.
  • Help organize media operations for home vents, including credentialing, staffing check-ins, and coordinating postgame interviews.
  • Provide support in maintaining accurate game statistics, records, and historical data in collaboration with official scorers and stat crew.
  • Assist with uploading and organizing multimedia content (photos, videos, graphics) across internal systems and external platforms.
  • Respond to internal and external information requests, providing clear and accurate answers or routing inquiries to appropriate staff.
  • Participate in communications planning meetings and contribute ideas for coverage, promotions, or content campaigns.
  • Collaborate with student interns or volunteers, helping answer questions and providing guidance on day-to-day tasks.
  • Ensure that all work complies with department policies, University standards, and NCAA regulations, seeking direction as needed.
  • Budget accountability.

  • Exceptional interpersonal communications skills including demonstrated writing experience and story-telling ability.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
  • 1 year of relevant work experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience with SIDEARM Sports content management, and/or HTML.
  • Previous experience with Photoshop, InDesign, and other desktop publishing programs.
  • Experience with NCAA rules and compliance issues pertaining to publicity and promotional efforts.
  • Experience with NCAA Live Stats and its various programs.
