Job summary

Life.Church seeks a Media Relations Manager to share stories of the God-inspired work across the YouVersion Family of Bible Apps, coordinating global press efforts and evaluating impact. You will coach international PR contractors, prep spokespersons for interviews, and craft thoughtful messaging on sensitive topics while maximizing coverage worldwide.

The role sits within the Public Relations Team of Life.Church Communications Group and supports outreach that furthers the church's mission.

The Media Relations Manager is primarily responsible for sharing the stories of what God is doing through the YouVersion Family of Bible Apps, including proactive and reactive media relations on a global scale. This role will strengthen existing efforts under the leadership of the Sr. Director of Public Relations, identify new opportunities for media coverage, and thoughtfully execute press strategies while analyzing their effectiveness. Additionally, this role will be responsible for coaching a network of international PR contractors, prep global spokespersons for interview opportunities, craft thoughtful messaging on sensitive topics, and maximize coverage opportunities across regions globally.

The Public Relations Team is part of the Life.Church Communications Group, which consists of four teams—including Social Media, Communication, and Marketing—who collectively develop strategies for how our ministry meets people where they are and empowers them to become fully devoted followers of Christ. Through YouVersion, one of Life.Church's most far-reaching ministries, this team helps tellthestory of Scripture in the hands of hundreds of millions of people around the world.

This role operationally supports the team's direction, initiatives, and ministry efforts to achieve outcomes thatfurther Life.Church’s mission and reach people for Christ.

What You'll Do

Drive the Strategic Direction of Global Press Efforts

  • Contribute strategy ideas for various YouVersion press initiatives, including exploring editorialcollaboration with aligned organizations and brands.
  • Coach and support a network of international PR contractors on press strategy execution.
  • Prep global spokespersons for interview opportunities.
  • Craft thoughtful, consistent messaging on sensitive topics across audiences and channels.
  • Regularly evaluate projects and identify ways to improve future efforts.

Lead Press Execution for Proactive and Reactive Opportunities

  • Draft and distribute press materials that appeal to journalists and align with YouVersion’s voice.
  • Coordinate press logistics across teams and international regions to keep PR campaigns runningsmoothly.
  • Manage and respond strategically to incoming media requests or external inquiries.
  • Stay informed of global and trade news trends to identify pitch angles across markets and getahead of any potential reactive efforts.
  • Build and maintain rapport with journalists.

Maintain Tools and Resources that Support Media Relations

  • Build and maintain research-based media lists, including international outlets and contacts.
  • Identify newsworthy testimonials across YouVersion initiatives and Regional Hubs.
  • Curate a collection of visual assets for press use.
  • Regularly monitor and report on international media coverage.
Skills Needed to Succeed
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to foster relationships andpartnerships.
  • Effective at multitasking and time management to meet strict deadlines while remaining flexibleand open to change.
  • Cultural awareness for working across international markets and diverse audiences.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofing skills.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience in coaching and developing others.
  • Ability to self-motivate, make independent decisions, and problem-solve.Ability to manage conflict and differing opinions while maintaining composure.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations, Strategic Communication, or a related field required.
  • 5+ years of related work experience preferred.
  • Experience (or at a minimum comfortable) working across time zones and with remote teams.
  • Demonstrated track record of effective media relations strategies.
