The Social Marketing and Communication (SMC) department within FHI 360’s U.S. Programs is a national leader in applying a science-based approach to social marketing and communication to address public health and other challenges in the U.S. SMC currently implements a diverse portfolio of social marketing, public relations, communication, and training and technical assistance projects in the U.S. that are funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Institutes of Health, private associations, and foundations. In the past decade, our team has worked on issues such as diabetes, emergency and pandemic preparedness, obesity prevention, sexual health, HIV, AIDS, cancer, asthma, immunizations, violence prevention, access to health care, and tobacco control and cessation. Job Summary:

FHI 360’s SMC department is seeking an enthusiastic and creative storyteller who can effectively produce multi-media content for use across a variety of platforms and medias to diverse audiences.

The Production Manager is responsible for managing all phases of photography and video productions, from concept to completion. This role leads video and photography productions in English and Spanish for multiple audiences, including consumers from diverse backgrounds, health care providers, and community partners. Final products should be relatable, authentic and people focused. This role interfaces with SMC clients to develop effective communication products; manages task budgets and relevant procurement activities; assists with reporting requirements. As part of a project team, the Production Manager will develop and implement production strategies through written communication plans, policies, and standards that reinforce the project team’s brand standards and quality goals and work with a high-performing matrixed communication task team that includes storytellers, content developers and writers, copywriters, and designers. Accountabilities:

  • Manages all phases of photography and video productions for SMC’s HIV communication campaign contract; includes contributing to the development of strategy for multiple micro campaigns; serving as primary client contact for all production related requests; and overseeing work of subcontractors and vendors.
  • Coordinates with in-house graphic designers, subcontractors, vendors, other team members, and clients to establish operating procedures, workflow, and timelines relevant to productions.
  • Develops systems and processes to effectively complete task deliverables of high quality that are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Monitors and addresses client issues in a timely manner, keeping senior project managers apprised of status and progress.
  • Effectively works with other task managers and special initiative leads to identify opportunities for collaboration and efficiencies.
  • Troubleshoot problems as they arise.
  • Contributes to business development efforts, including proposal strategy and tactics, partnering recommendations, budget assumptions, and writing of technical sections.
  • Participates in the development of relevant trainings for clients and colleagues.
  • Works collaboratively within SMC, US Programs, and across FHI 360 on relevant communication-related opportunities.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Applied Knowledge & Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience in multimedia communications and storytelling, including conceptualizing, planning and directing productions, filming, editing, and writing, mastery of Adobe Premiere a plus.
  • Experience working on Spanish-language productions a plus.
  • Superior written and verbal communications skills and ability to transform scientific and technical information into compelling and accessible stories in a creative and meaningful way.
  • Experience supporting US government or health-related non-profit communication projects.
  • Experience working with a multi-faceted team that includes communication specialists and graphic designers.
  • Ability to meet fast-paced project deadlines and adapt to changes in direction.
  • Sound, professional judgment for making project-related decisions.
  • Evidence of successful project management.
  • Skilled in developing strategies and implementing detailed tactical plans.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or its International Equivalent in Communication, Journalism, and Related Programs or a Related Field.

Experience:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 5+ years of progressive work experience in broadcast journalism, web journalism, corporate communications, public health, international development, or public policy, including 3+ years in multimedia work.

Typical Physical Demands:

  • Typical office environment.
  • Ability to spend long hours looking at computer screen and doing repetitive work on a keyboard.
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 5 lbs.

Technology to be Used:

  • Personal Computer/Laptop, Microsoft applications (i.e., Office 365, SharePoint, Skype/Zoom/Teams), cell phone/mobile technology, and standard office equipment.

Travel Requirements:

  • Less than 20%.

The expected US Based hiring salary range for this role is listed below. Candidate FHI 360 pay ranges represent national averages that vary by geographic location. When determining an offer amount, FHI 360 factors in multiple considerations, including but not limited to: relevant years of experience and education possessed by the applicant, internal equity, business sector, and budget.

Base salary is only one component of our offer. FHI 360 contributes 12% of monthly base pay to a money purchase pension plan account. Additionally, all US based staff working full-time, which is calculated at 40 hours/week, receive 18 days of paid vacation per year, 12 sick days per year, and 11 holidays per year. Paid time off is reduced pro rata for employees working less than a full-time schedule.

US Based Hiring Salary Range: $95,000 - $106,000

International hiring ranges will differ based on location.
