NBCUniversal Media Operations is seeking a Media Operations Technician to support the end-to-end digital media supply chain in a 24/7 environment. This role handles QC, ingest, transcoding, and metadata management across NBCUniversal platforms.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically capable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced setting with a hybrid Stamford, CT schedule and US work eligibility.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with related media experience.
  • Understanding of television production and broadcast operations.
  • Experience in quality control and media workflows is a plus.
  • Familiarity with MAM and file-based delivery workflows is beneficial.

Job Description

Role Overview:
NBCUniversal Media Operations is seeking a Media Operations Technician to support the end-to-end digital media supply chain. This role is part of a 24/7 operational environment responsible for quality control, preparation, and distribution of media assets across NBCUniversal broadcast, cable, streaming, international, and digital platforms. Abilty to perform quality control of content for NBCUniversal distribution using several technical processes & technologies including, but not limited to, Audio/Video QC, subtitle QC, audio language recognition, order prioritization, cross team communication and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically capable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform technical quality control (QC) of digital media assets, including long-form content, short-form content, metadata, captioning, subtitles, and various audio mixes.
  • Verify audio, video, subtitle/caption, and metadata integrity to ensure compliance with NBCUniversal and distribution partner specifications.
  • Support media ingest, transcode, edit, segmentation, and preparation workflows across multiple delivery platforms.
  • Prepare and fulfill media assets for broadcast networks, owned-and-operated stations, Peacock, internation platforms, and other digital outlets.
  • Conduct real-time, spot check, and file-based content QC to identify technical, legal, and creative issues.
  • Maintain accurate metadata and media records within Media Asset Management (MAM) and workflow systems.
  • Troubleshoot issues within media workflows, following established escalation paths and communicating status to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Program Operations, On-Air Marketing, Programming, and external partners.
  • Learn and execute new workflows, tools, and technologies introduced into the Media Operations ecosystem.
  • Support departmental performance goals related to reliability, accuracy, and timeliness of deliveries.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • A High School Diploma and relevant certification or Associate's Degree in Media or Communications, or equivalent professional experience in broadcast, digital, or post production role.
  • A solid understanding of television production, broadcast operations, and/or news/sports/entertainment technical production requirements.

Desired Characteristics:

  • 1+ years of experience in a production, post production, broadcast, or communications environment
  • 2+ years' of experience in a job or school related activity using computers and software applications including MS outlook, MS Word, & MS Excel.
  • Knowledge of various media formats/VTRs (Digibeta, HDcam, XDcam), file types (QT, WMV, MXF, DNX, DV, etc) and video standards (NTSC, PAL)
  • Basic understanding of digital video/audio including compression codecs, file systems, file transfer applications and Content Distribution
  • Experience in international broadcast operations or media especially in a quality control capacity.
  • A team player, who is always respectful, follows rules and policy, has good communication skills, and maintains a positive attitude.
  • A punctual, hardworking, disciplined, and dependable individual
  • Experience in a fast paced, quick turn and/or live broadcast environment.
  • Fluency or intermediate understanding of other languages
  • Understanding of international files standards & frame rates
  • 2-5 years of experience in the multi-channel broadcast facility doing content-prep and quality-control work
  • Professional experience with SD & HD tape decks and/or file formats and specifications.
  • Intermediate understanding of audio and video signal flow (waveform monitors, vector scopes, patch bay and routing systems)
  • Prior experience using Media Asset Management (MAM) and centralized workflow software.
Additional Job Requirements:
  • Must be willing to work in Stamford, Connecticut-This position has been designated as hybrid, which currently requires contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week. Beginning January 5, 2026, hybrid employees will be required to work from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.
  • Must have unrestricted employment authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be willing and available to work any shift including overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays to meet the needs of a 24x7/365 operation, with possibility of schedule changes based on business needs and priorities.
  • Must be willing and able to view all content including that considered to be mature in nature, repetitive, and potentially controversial.
  • Hybrid: This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.
