  • Diagnose, resolve, or escalate issues efficiently.
  • Collaborate with Producers, Account Managers, Production teams, Schedulers, and Data I/O to maintain smooth workflows.
  • Contribute to ongoing development work, including bug fixes, enhancements, and system updates.
  • Coordinate development efforts across internal teams and external partners.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Media Operations Engineer is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and evolving PPC's core post-production workflow systems, including its media asset management system and associated infrastructure. This role ensures the reliability and efficiency of these platforms while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver seamless media workflows. The position also contributes to system development, automation initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts across the business.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Support & Operations (day-to-day):
  • Oversee support and monitoring of PPC's core workflow systems, including the media asset management system, Smartsheet, AiR, and related infrastructure.
  • Provide platform support for across integrated systems.
  • Diagnose, resolve, or upscale issues efficiently.
  • Collaborate with Producers, Account Managers, Production teams, Schedulers, and Data I/O to maintain smooth workflows.
Development & Projects:
  • Contribute to ongoing development work, including bug fixes, enhancements, and system updates.
  • Design, build, maintain, and support services that underpin post-production workflows.
  • Act as a key point of contact for third-party developers to plan, test, and deploy projects.
  • Support the evolution of the media asset management system environment and internal automation tools.
  • Participate in the full lifecycle of innovation initiatives - from concept through delivery.
  • Coordinate development efforts across internal teams and external partners.
Training & Documentation:
  • Lead onboarding and training sessions for new users.
  • Train and support "super users" to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Maintain and update technical documentation, user guides, and procedures.
Testing & Implementation:
  • Conduct system testing to ensure performance, reliability, and security.
  • Evaluate and validate new technologies prior to production deployment.
  • Coordinate implementation of changes from staging to production environments.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, including producers, editors, and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive working relationships across departments.
  • Self-starter with a proactive, problem-solving mindset; able to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to systematically analyze and troubleshoot platform, workflow, or software issues while maintaining composure in high-pressure situations.
  • Working knowledge of programming and data structures (e.g., Python, Groovy, JSON, SQL).
  • Strong understanding of digital video and audio formats, codecs, frame rates, and tools such as FFmpeg.
  • Experience with project and ticket management tools (e.g., Jira, Front, Smartsheet).
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including VLANs, VPNs, and DNS.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to evolving workflows.
  • Experience working in a technically driven post-production environment, with exposure to broader business operations.

This position is based in our LA head office, and the salary rate for this role is up to $27.24 per hour. The rate will vary depending on the candidates skills and experience.
