Job summary

Broadcast Music, Inc. is seeking a Database Analyst to develop and maintain databases and support routine administration of media accounts. You will ensure data consistency, accuracy and credibility for departmental reporting and analytics, collaborating with licensing and customer service teams.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and 1–2 years of experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Access. Hybrid office schedule with some remote Fridays is offered.

  • Minimum 1–2 years experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access).
  • Experience in a business environment required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and distribute management, marketing and sales reports using Salesforce, Oracle, Databricks and other platforms.
  • Manage querying, extraction, ingestion of media data from providers and licensing partners.
  • Analyze and interpret media data to support customer service and licensing management.
  • Monitor media licensing inboxes and inquiries for staff.
  • Periodically compile candidate listings for licensing outreach campaigns.
  • Assist in developing department systems and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned and support BMI values.

BMI negotiates music license agreements and distributes the fees it generates as royalties to its affiliated writers and publishers when their songs are publicly performed.

About the Role

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the ongoing development and maintenance of databases within the department, as well as routine administration of media accounts, having a direct impact on consistency, accuracy and credibility of data to be used for departmental reporting and analysis.

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

Essential Functions: which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.

  • Develops and distributes management, marketing and sales reports using Salesforce, Oracle, Databricks, and other enterprise data platforms.
  • Manages the query/extraction, ingestion and use of all media data from third party data providers (including FCC, BIA, M-Street, S&P Global) and licensing partners (e.g., TVMLC). Acts as the department’s liaison to such organizations.
  • Analyzes, evaluates, and interprets media data as necessary to provide analytics and administrative support to Media customer service representatives and licensing department management.
  • Monitors media licensing group email inboxes and online inquiries for Media customer service representatives.
  • Periodically compiles candidate listings for licensing outreach campaigns.
  • Assists in the development of department systems and operational procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Supports enterprise database projects such as testing of enhancements and updates.

  • Concentrated mental and visual attention with normal hand-eye coordination.
  • Clarity of vision at 20 inches; corrected or uncorrected.
  • Generally negligible physical effort, but occasional moving of 1 to 10 lb. items.

Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions: Environmental and atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the functions of this job.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred.

Experience: Minimum 1 - 2 years experience and knowledge with Microsoft Office products, specifically Word, Excel and Access. Experience working in a business environment required.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Access and Excel required with experience incorporating Microsoft Co-pilot and other AI tools preferred
  • Experience with using and developing Salesforce reports required. Experience using Databricks preferred

  • Detail oriented with the ability to work independently
  • Comfortable adapting to change quickly and implementing new tools
