Job summary

Sumter School District is seeking a Media Center Paraprofessional for the RE Davis College Prep Academy in Sumter, SC. The role supports the media program and assists the classroom teacher with daily learning activities and accommodations for students.

The position requires an Associate's Degree or 60 college credits with a preference for 3 years in a public school setting; reports to the principal; 185-day length; pay based on credentials and district pay schedule.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the media specialist, helps to maintain and oversee a positive learning environment.
• Assists the teacher in implementing daily learning experiences aligned with grade level and instructional mission.
• Collaborates with the teacher to support curricular planning and classroom environment decisions.
• Assists with accommodations required for students.
• Helps promote a safe, secure, healthy learning environment.
• Works with individuals or small groups for behavior or academic issues.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Position:Paraprofessional - Media Center

Work Location: R.E. Davis College Prep AcademySchool

Qualifications:Applicants must possess a minimum of an Associate's Degree or 60 college credit hoursfrom an accredited college or university to meet the Highly Qualified requirement; A minimum of three (3) years of experience working in apublicschool setting is highly desired.

Reports To: Principal

Length of Service: 185 days

Rate of Pay: Based upon credentials and experience in accordance with the district-approved pay schedule.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Under the direction of the media specialist, helps to maintain and oversee a positive learning environment.
• Assists the teacher in implementing appropriate daily learning experiences that are congruentwith the approved practices for the grade level and/or class compositionand aligned with the instructional mission of the school and district.
• Collaborates with theteacher as appropriate to help ensure that informed decisions are maderegarding curricular planning, classroom environment issues, andinstructional practices.
• Assists the teacher inproviding any unique and/or special accommodations required for students.
• Helps the teacher promotea safe, secure, healthy learning environment.
• Works with individual student or small groups of students for behavior or academic issues
• Works with othersconsistently in a cooperative and respectful manner.
• Performs all other dutiesas assigned.
