NEC Laboratories America, Inc. in San Jose, California, seeks a Media Analytics (MA) Research Intern for Summer 2027. The intern will work closely with the research team to explore creative directions in computer vision with potential for high industry impact.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a PhD in computer vision, with interests in autonomous driving, embodied AI, foundation models, and diffusion-based visual synthesis. Intern projects may lead to papers in CVPR/ICCV/ECCV and related venues.

The Media Analytics Department of NEC Labs America at San Jose, California, is seeking the next generation of thought leaders in computer vision for research internships in Summer 2027. Our interns work closely with the research team to explore creative directions with a potential for high impact in industry and the broader community.

Position Requirements

Outstanding applicants pursuing a PhD in all areas of computer vision are encouraged to apply, including but not limited to the following:

• Autonomous driving and embodied AI
• Agentic AI: self-evolution, discovery and safety
• Foundation models: VLAs and world action models
• Visual synthesis: neural rendering and diffusion models

Intern projects at NEC Labs result in student-led papers published at top-tier venues such as CVPR, ICCV and ECCV. The anticipated compensation range for this position is $7,500 to $9,000/month, depending upon the selected candidate’s relevant experience and area of expertise. NEC offers its interns paid company holidays, access to fitness areas as well as travel and housing allowance, if applicable.
