Role Description

The Medi-Cal Enrollment Specialist will be a key member of Zócalo Health, facilitating Medi-Cal enrollment, supporting community members through the application process, and collaborating with care teams and county agencies. Your role will promote health equity by ensuring underserved communities access essential healthcare services.

This position reports to the Head of Patient Outreach and Engagement Operations.

Responsibilities
  1. Serve as the primary contact for Medi-Cal inquiries and application tracking.
  2. Assist community members with applications, renewals, and verifications.
  3. Verify Medi-Cal and managed care plan status via online portals.
  4. Coordinate with county offices to resolve coverage issues.
  5. Maintain accurate records and update tracking systems.
  6. Educate members about Medi-Cal benefits and plans.
  7. Collaborate with specialists to ensure seamless coverage.
  8. Stay informed on policy changes and communicate updates.
  9. Provide administrative support related to Medi-Cal applications.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1 year of Medi-Cal enrollment experience.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Experience with online portals like BenefitsCal and Medi-Cal Provider Portal.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain organized records.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR).
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Knowledge of Medi-Cal eligibility and managed care plans.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of Medi-Cal enrollment experience.
  • Experience in medical or social services.
  • Bilingual in Spanish or another community language.
  • Knowledge of Harm Reduction, De-escalation, Motivational Interviewing, and Trauma-Informed Care.
