Job summary

Harmony Senior Services is seeking a Med Tech to provide quality care, assist with daily living activities, and safely administer prescribed medications within the scope of practice. The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, completion of the Medication Aide Course, and holding both CNA and Med Tech licenses in good standing.

Candidates must pass medication observations, cart audits, and annual education; flexible scheduling is offered, with weekends and holidays required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED must be obtained.
  • Complete the Medication Aide Course.
  • CNA and Med Tech licenses in good standing.
  • Pass 2 medication observations annually.
  • Pass all medication cart audits as assigned.
  • Attend 4 additional hours of medication education annually.
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Be organized and work well with all staff levels.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs and push or carry 25 lbs.
  • Safe lifting and transfer of residents with proper mechanics.
  • Uniform with name badge worn; maintain professional appearance.
  • CPR/First Aid certified or willing to certify within 60 days.
  • Represent the community positively and professionally.
  • Attend required in-services and staff meetings.
  • Willing to work weekends and holidays.
  • Remain calm and competent during emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with administration of prescribed medications within scope.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs).
  • Maintain knowledge of all policies and procedures for the role.
  • Report incidents or concerns to appropriate personnel (HCD, RN/LPN, ED).
  • Perform housekeeping duties as directed by supervisor.
  • Respond promptly to resident calls for assistance or emergencies.
  • Assist in planning and conducting activity programs for residents.
  • Communicate resident status and upcoming information in writing and verbally.
  • Assist new residents with move-in transition and emotional support.
  • Attend medication trainings scheduled.
  • Complete medication cart audits and maintain the cart.
  • Document all medication administration in EMAR/MAR.
  • Report all medication-related exceptions to HCD and log them.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • The Med Tech provides quality care and assistance with activities of daily living for residents of the community as well as assists with the administration of prescribed medications within the established scope of practice.
  • Assists with the administration of prescribed medications within the established scope of practice.
  • Must maintain a working knowledge of all policies and procedures pertaining to the position.
  • Assists residents with activities of daily living.
  • Reports incidents involving residents to include care concerns or issues, to appropriate individuals (ex: HCD, RN/LPN, or ED).
  • Perform housekeeping duties, such as making resident beds, cleaning resident apartments, common areas, dining room, etc. as directed by supervisor.
  • Respond promptly to all resident calls for assistance or emergency alerts.
  • Assists in planning and conducting activity programs for residents.
  • Follows confidentiality policies regarding release of resident information.
  • Assists residents to and from the dining room, and to and from activities.
  • Checks on residents, ensures attendance at meals and activities.
  • Checks on residents who are ill and reports status or concerns to appropriate individuals.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing to report resident status, upcoming community information, resident appointments, admissions, and transfers.
  • Assists new residents with move-in transition: provide emotional support.
  • Attendance to all medication trainings scheduled.
  • Complete medication cart audits as assigned and maintain the medication cart as directed.
  • Pass all medication administration observations.
  • Communicates all medication resident needs to the HCD and documents in the Daily Log.
  • Re-orders medications, faxes to pharmacy, communicates with resident family/RP as needed with changes.
  • Reports in Daily Log.
  • Documents all medication administration on the EMAR/MAR.
  • Reports all exceptions to the HCD and documented on EMAR and Daily Log.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Must have High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have completed the Medication Aide Course.
  • Must possess both current CNA and Med Tech license from the State Board of Nursing in good standing
  • Must satisfactorily pass 2 medication observations annually
  • Must satisfactorily pass all medication cart audits assigned
  • Must attend 4 additional hours of medication administration education annually
  • Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in-writing
  • Must be organized and able to work well with all levels of personnel
  • Must be a contributing member of nursing team and follow instruction of supervisor
  • Must be polite and considerate of residents, visitors, and co-workers at all times
  • Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs, and push or carry 25 lbs
  • Must be able to safely lift and transfer residents while maintaining proper body mechanics
  • Must be in designated uniform during working hours, to include name badge and a smile
  • Must be CPR/First Aid certified, or be willing to become certified within 60 days of hire
  • Must be able to represent the community in a positive and professional manner
  • Must attend and complete all required in-services and staff meetings
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends and holidays
  • Must be able to remain calm and competent during emergencies
