Job summary

City of Lincoln in Wenatchee, WA is seeking a full-time, non-exempt caregiver to support residents with daily living activities in a climate-controlled assisted living community. The role involves observing health changes, following care plans, and coordinating with nursing staff.

Responsibilities include helping with ADLs, meals, documentation, infection control, and participation in life enrichment activities.

Qualifications

• Must satisfy all state health, licensure/certification, and background requirements.
• Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; at least 6 months of related work experience or training preferred.
• Certificates and Licenses: CPR and First Aid certifications if not current, plus any state licensing requirements.
• Communication Skills: Able to receive and carry out verbal or written instruction; communicate effectively with customers and co-workers.
• Organization/Self-Management: Perform repetitive work per procedures with distractions; escalate issues as needed.
• Computer Skills: May require basic computer proficiency for training or tasks.

Responsibilities

• Observes resident physical, mental, and emotional status and reports changes.
• Reads and follows service plans and reviews daily reports.
• Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, hygiene, dressing, walking, transferring, turning.
• Applies basic first-aid measures as directed by a nurse.
• Assists with meals, prepares or checks food trays for prescribed diets, records intake.
• Responds to resident inquiries and directs to appropriate person.
• Responds promptly to emergency situations.
• Assists with Life Enrichment activities as needed.
• Provides routine updates to Wellness team and completes recordkeeping tasks.
• May assist with housekeeping duties and laundry.
• May obtain and record resident vital signs and samples for testing.
• Practices basic infection control with linens and hand hygiene.
• Attends mandatory meetings as scheduled.
• Maintains confidentiality of resident, community, employee, and company information.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Observes resident physical , mental, and emotional status and reports any changes.
• Reads and follows service plans, attends meetings, and reviews daily reports in the interest of resident care .
• Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living, such as bathing, personal hygiene, dressing, walking, transferring, and turning.
• Applies minor first-aid measures such as compresses, ice, and h eat as directed by a nurse .
• Assists with meal service , prepares or examines food trays for prescribed diet , feeds residents , and records food intake when required .
• Responds to resident inquiries and directs to the appropriate person as needed .
• Responds promptly and appropriately to emergency situations .
• Assists with Life Enrichment activities as needed.
• Provides routine updates to other Wellness team members and completes required recordkeeping tasks .
• May assist with housekeeping duties, including removing garbage, making beds, cleaning apartments, and washing, drying, and putting away laundry.
• May obtain and record resident vital signs and weight.
• May collect samples from residents for testing , such as sputum, urine, stool, and/or blood.
• Practice basic infection control with linens, hand washing, and in all other aspects of delivery of resident care.
• Attend mandatory meetings as scheduled by Executive Director.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident, community , employee, and company information.
• Maintain working knowledge of fire and disaster plans and responsibilities under emergency conditions.
• Perform other duties as assigned .

Physical Demands

Constantly stands and walks around the community, interacting with residents, coworkers, and others. Uses hands and fingers to feel, handle, and operate supplies, controls, tools, and objects, and hands and arms to reach. Frequently communicates with others to exchange information in person, and over the phone, and m ust be capable of effective communication in these situations. Occasionally moves items weighing up to 25 pounds and may assist in transferring residents weighing more than 100 pounds. Frequently required to bend, twist, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

This position is most frequently situated inside of a climate-controlled assisted living community, with a low to moderate noise level. In certain circumstances, a staff member may be exposed to communicable diseases and infections, other biological hazards, and various drugs and chemicals. Due to these potential hazardous exposures, you may be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in addition to universal precautions. PPE could include, but is not limited to, gloves, gowns, masks, respirators, and goggles .
