Morningside House Senior Living in Ellicott City, MD is seeking a Med Tech CMT for overnight full-time hours (10PM–6AM). The role administers medications under a licensed nurse, maintains medication records, and supports resident health and wellbeing in accordance with state and federal rules.

• High School Diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Certified Medication Technician certification required.

Responsabilités

• Administers medications as ordered by a physician under the supervision of a licensed nurse, in accordance with state and federal regulations and community policy.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the “five rights” of medication administration and records medications as charted.
• May take and record vital signs of residents as assigned or as required by medications.
• Records administration of medications and treatments in the computer system.
• Observes and reports reactions or side effects to a licensed nurse immediately.
• Administers PRN medications per regulations and facility policy.
• Maintains infection control practices including antiseptic techniques and universal precautions.
• Reports changes in resident condition to nurse and documents incidents within 24 hours.
• Communicates with medical staff and other department supervisors.
• Supervises care staff in the absence of nurses.
• Maintains and cleans the Medication Room and liaises with departments to plan resident activities.
• Attends required training and staff meetings; may handle hazardous chemicals or infectious waste.

Med Tech CMT - Position Summary:

Administer oral and topical medications to residents. This individual must perform these tasks as ordered by a physician, under the supervision of a licensed nurse, and in accordance with state and federal rules and regulations. Also, must perform routine daily tasks required in maintaining the health, comfort and wellbeing of the residents.

Med Tech CMT - Essential Responsibilities:

• Administers medications as ordered by a physician under the supervision of a licensed nurse, in accordance with any state and federal regulations and consistent with community policy.
• Must demonstrate knowledge of “five rights” of medication administration. Administers and records all medication given to residents’ based upon their specific chart.
• May take and record vital signs of residents as assigned or as may be required by certain medications.
• Med Tech CMT records the administration of medications and/or treatments appropriately, utilizing the computer system to enter and reference resident information as needed.
• Observes and reports any reactions and/or side effects of medications to a licensed nurse immediately.
• Administers PRN medications in accordance with state and federal regulations and consistent with facility policy.
• Ensure antiseptic techniques and good hand washing practices for infection control, as well as utilizing universal precautions are in place and practiced.
• Med Tech CMT reports and when appropriate, records any changes observed in condition or behavior of residents and unusual incidents.
• Submit incident/accident reports to supervisor or Administrator within twentyfour (24) hours after their occurrence.
• Communicates with medical staff, nursing service and other department supervisors.
• Med Tech CMT supervises care staff in absence of nurses.
• Maintains, cleans and organizes the Medication Room.
• Maintains a liaison with other department supervisors to adequately plan for resident activities.
• Attends all required training, in-service and staff meetings
• May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
• May be subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc, including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
• Maintain resident confidentiality, staff confidentiality; treat staff and residents with kindness, dignity and respect.
• Comply with Resident’s Rights rules.

Med Tech CMT - Requirements:

• A High School Diploma or General Education Degree; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Certified Medication Technician certification required.
