Job summary

Heritage Senior Communities in Michigan seeks a Part-time Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA/CENA/MA/LPN) to administer medications as ordered, document in the EMAR system, and report any concerns following proper protocol.

You will count inventory, keep the med cart organized, communicate with health professionals and family, assist residents to stay independent, and adhere to infection control standards. Wage is $15.00–$17.00 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Certified Nursing Assistant or equivalent credential (CNA/CENA/MA/LPN).
  • Ability to document medication administration accurately in EMAR.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families and health professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Timely administration of medications as ordered by licensed professionals.
  • Document medication administration in EMAR accurately and promptly.
  • Report medication concerns following protocol and maintain inventory counts.
  • Keep medication cart and med room clean and organized; manage EMAR charging.
  • Communicate with health care professionals, pharmacy, hospice and family as needed.
  • Observe residents for changes and report to supervisor; support independence.
  • Adhere to infection control and safety standards.

Job description

Purpose of This Position
  • Timely and accurate administration of medications to residents as ordered by the licensed health care professional
  • Accurate and timely documentation of medication administration in the EMAR system
  • Follows proper protocol for reporting any medication related concerns
  • Accurately counts and documents medication inventory, including narcotics and controlled substances; reorders medications timely to assure residents do not miss doses
  • Maintains a clean and organized medication cart and med room; complies with EMAR requirements including charging of the Chromebook
  • Routine and non‑routine communication with licensed health care professionals, pharmacy, hospice personnel, home health care personnel, and resident family members
  • Proper documentation of all communication relating to resident care, including changes in medication orders
  • Responds to resident requests for assistance, including “call lights”
  • Observes residents for any change in condition (physical, emotional, cognitive, or behavioral)
  • Communicates any change in condition to the supervisor
  • Assists residents to maintain their highest level of independence
  • Complies with infection control protocols
  • Timely, accurate and safe administration of resident medications according to health professional’s orders
  • Assures that all aspects of the resident’s personal care and service plan are implemented while treating the resident with dignity and respect, enabling each resident to be as independent and self‑sufficient as possible
Qualifications

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA); Competency Evaluated Nursing Assistant (CENA); Medical Assistant (MA); L.P.N. or other credential or experience which prepares the individual to perform the duties required. Minimum age 18 years and high school diploma or equivalent. Must be able to perform essential functions of this position physically and mentally, communicate effectively in English, and be competency trained in proper administration of medications.

Compensation and Benefits

Hourly wage and benefits as stated in the Employee Handbook. Eligible for a 2% increase after 90 days of employment with a satisfactory review, and merit increase annually based on supervisor’s written evaluation of performance. After one year of employment, eligible to participate in the 401(k) retirement savings program.

Work Schedule

Work schedules are posted electronically to ON SHIFT a minimum of one week in advance. It is your responsibility to check the schedule to confirm your days and hours of work.

Part‑time position: hours may vary

Wage Range: $15.00 - $17.00 Per Hour
