Job summary

Viva Senior Living is seeking a Medication Technician to accurately distribute medications, document administration, and support residents as part of the Clinical Services team in Missouri. You will collaborate with caregivers to uphold the Plan of Care, assist with daily living activities, and help provide compassionate care to residents and families.

The role requires a High school diploma or GED and a Level One Medication Aide certificate, along with English proficiency.

Qualifications

  • Hold at minimum a high school diploma or GED and a Level One Medication Aide certificate.
  • Comply with federal, state and local health and regulatory standards.
  • Read, write, speak and understand English.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately distribute medication, document administration, and observe resident self‑administration.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living and hygiene, including bathing, dressing, oral hygiene, and grooming.
  • Support residents’ wellbeing by following their Plan of Care, providing social activities and dietary assistance.
  • Provide assistance in the dining room.
  • Accept and record emergency calls promptly, completing required paperwork afterward.
  • Retrieve soiled linens, sort and pre‑soak as required, and ensure general upkeep and cleanliness of resident rooms.
  • Observe and report changes in resident condition, including medication refusals or reactions, to supervisor on duty and via shift‑to‑shift verbal report.
  • Serve as a resource for residents and families, directing them to the appropriate staff for additional needs or information.
  • Maintain clean and safe environment by checking for unsecured rugs, extension cords, and damaged equipment.
  • Participate in in‑service educational programs as required.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Position Summary

Responsible for accurate and timely distribution and documentation of medication for residents, and for providing compassionate care in accordance with resident rights and facility policies.

Essential Functions
  • Comply with federal, state and local health and regulatory standards.
  • Hold at minimum a high school diploma or GED and a Level One Medication Aide certificate.
  • Collaborate with peers in a congenial work environment, maintaining compassion and dignity for residents and adherence to the Resident Bill of Rights.
  • Be available for emergency call backs as required.
  • Adhere to Viva Senior Living’s attendance policies and employment terms as set forth in the Employee Handbook.
  • Read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Maintain highest standards of caring and servicing for residents and their families.
  • Follow all facility policies and procedures.

Requirements
  • Annual verification of a negative TB skin test.
Physical and Sensory Requirements
  • Move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Coping with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • See and hear or use prosthetics that allow adequate sensory function.
  • Undergo medical and physical examinations as required by facility policy.
  • Relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and occasionally agitated residents.
  • Be able to lift or move a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and to a minimum distance of 50 feet.
  • Assist in evacuation of residents during emergencies, if necessary.
